What did you shoot today?

I inherited a Winchester 94 30wcf from my late brother in law. It was given to me because I am the only gun guy in the family. Serial number shows it to be made in 1917 and it came from the West Texas part of the country. It's smooth and tight and shoots well. I was hitting the 100 yard steel plate consistently with regular 150g handloads. Pretty sweet little rifle.

SAR-4800 from Brazil. I don't make holes in paper. That's no fun, especially with today's .308 ammo costs of .73-.80 (or more) per round...Before taxes etc.

The target is a large, empty detergent jug hanging at the Bottom of a high riverbank (by a rope from a stick) at 100-120 yards. It’s a Reactive target because it jumps pretty often-just Aim several inches low to make it dance , otherwise .308 bullets drill thru with no visible reaction.

I hit the range today with my 9mm Glocks (19 & 26). Just hitting pop cans. I shot the Glock 26 mainly weak hand. I actually liked it better than in my strong hand.???
The 26 may spend a lot of time in my weak side pocket until I have my hip replaced on my strong side. The arthritis in my strong hand has been bothering me also. 20240426_103847.jpg

My second gun to arrive yesterday is a very garden variety older Savage 219 with 410, 16ga, and 12ga barrels. The 12ga was cut to 20", nice job. I'm going to have the 12ga threaded to accept Winchokes. My first shotgun was a 220 20ga back when I was 8. I love these somewhat crude guns and hunt with them often. I like that they are hammerless.

The 219 frame is a perfect fit for my 22 Hornet and 30-30 barrels that didn't fit my 220 frames well. I'm still looking for a 25-35 barrel that doesn't cost the national debt...good luck...LOL

Shot it this morning along with the Win 308. :D:D

FINALY got warm & dry enough to shoot outside. Shot Swiss 7.5mm surplus ammo for the first time in the K31. It averaged around 2529 fps.
Then shot a 5 different handloads and found one to match the surplus for speed and accuracy.
This was at 100 yards as it was pretty muddy walking. It will need a little more sun & drying out to do 200 yards.
The sights shoot little high and little left at the minimum sight setting of 100 yards.
The Swiss set windage with a cool front sight blade slider thingy. It is set to shoot a little left so that's what it did.

Took out my 10.5” palmetto px9 with suppressor to sight in 4x acog with 1000 fps subsonic hand loads. Amazing how quickly it was zeroed, took 4 rds. Shot 250 rds 147 gr fmj and 50 rds jhp. This thing is so quiet and accurate I could barely tell there was more than 1 hole in reactive target at 50 yds. The acog on a 9mm is interesting that zeroed at 50 yds, every 15 yds after is another mark of holdover almost exactly! Top of chevron at 50, bottom at 65, 300 yd mark at 80, 400 yd mark at 95-100 ect. Didn’t test past 100 yds but I imagine the drop will get quite significant after 100 yds.

Went back to the range this morning. Ran 50 rounds through the Glock 26 and 30 through my LCP MAX.
I really don't have a good wilderness defense load for my 9mms. I actually think I would carry these 9mm +p 124 grain FMJs from Underwood.

What do you guys think about FMJs for woods defense in the East and Midwest ?
