What did you shoot today?

Had a good time on the 25 yd., actually more like 30 yds., range at the club. Weather was great. Played with the Ruger PC Carbine, (30 rds.), Single Six Convertible with its 22 Mag. cylinder in place (42 rds.), Getting the hang of a new-to-me 20 ga. Mossberg 500 by pattern testing, (15 rds.), Some Glock 19 plinking,(15 rds.), Discovered a very accurate 44 Magnum handload with 300 gr. hard cast WFNGC's from Cast Performance fueled by H-110, (12 rds.). Last but not least was one round through the Henry Single Shot in .308 because I'm still doing a barrel break-in procedure on that one. Total round count for all comes to 115 rounds. Got a lot done; had a lot of fun. Now it's gun cleaning time. Here's one of the Redhawk 44 Mag. targets, I think the two fliers were from the unsteady old guy behind the trigger. Next time out I'll have to chronograph that load. IMG_6485.JPG

My daughters ex, after he kidnapped my grandson.......NOT.....
but, I thought about it.
Instead, I had him arrested for "parental kidnapping", and he is now in jail for a very long time.

Hi...
My son and I went over to the gun club to shoot a few rifles.
We took his Tikka stainless .308, Rem 700 in .270 and an AR15 that he built in .223 and my two SKS .7.62x39, Enfield in .303Brit and my Mauser 7x57.

He tested some handloads he had made in .308...pretty good accuracy at 100yds, less than 1" groups with 4 shots fired. He was able to do that with several groups. He also had decent success with some factory loads in .270...he needs to make some adjustments to the scope on that rifle once he starts reloading for it. He thinks he can get better accuracy out of this rifle plus he thinks he may replace the trigger.
His AR shot pretty well with brass cases Frontier ammo but steel cased ammo did not shoot well at all.

My .303 Brit shot fairly well at 50 yds once I got reacquainted with it. Nothing spectacular...just adequate accuracy.
However, I shot three shots at a small rock on the 200yd berm and hit it with one shot, right beside it with another and a bit high with the third. Rock was probably about 3"x4" in size.

Couldn't shoot the 7x57 or SKS rifles because we left the ammo can for them in the garage when we loaded up the truck.
We will try again next range trip.

Yesterday the Wife and I went to look at the Sunflowers that I planted in my Dove field. Then we rode around the ponds so she could shoot a few snakes. We use mostly 22's for this. Her's is a M77-22 with a 1.5-5 Leupold.

Walther Model 4 and Beretta Pico.

The Model 4 is always interesting because the ejection port is actually on the Port side.

Hi...
Went to one of the gun clubs this morning and it was closed for a work day...nothing posted on the club website.
Had no idea they were doing repairs/upgrades, etc.
Change of plans...went to the other gun club even though I knew there was a hi power match scheduled.
My son and I shot handguns for a while until the match was over. Shot some 300gr .44Mag factory loads that I got at an auction some time ago. They were pretty accurate in all four of my revolvers but shot much higher at 25yds than the load my revolvers are sighted in for. Also shot some 158gr plated handloads in two .357Mag revolvers and some 230gr plated handloads in a few different .45ACP pistols. My son shot a bunch of 180gr plated handloads through his two 10mm pistols.
After the hi power match ended, we shot about 100 rounds through one of my SKS rifles, a couple of boxes of rounds through one of my Mauser 98k rifles in 7x57. Then my son tested some of his handloads in.308 in his Tikka and then we shot a few magazines at some rocks on the 200yd berm through one of his AR15s in .223 just for fun.

Not happy with the lack of accuracy with my 98k...more like patterns at 50yds. My son's Tikka really liked one of the test loads my son loaded for it but the other load was barely adequate at 100yds. He thinks he can get better than the 1" group he got with the one load so he intends to do a ladder test with 748 powder and what ever bullet he decides on...not sure what that may be yet.
My SKS displayed it's typical 3-4" groups at 50yds off the bench, yet was able to consistently hit a 6" rock at 200yds. I don't know if the cheap Tula steel case ammo is able to stabilize at 50yds or what but it seems to straighten up at 200yds. Strange...

My son's AR shot quite well as always.

Nice day at the gun club. Now I have brass to tumble and if I want to go to the range again, I better get cracking on the reloading room.

I'm back at our remote Camp Overlook for the second Sunday in a row. The river is still spilling out of its banks.
I brought my. 22 single six, and a ruger American ranch 7.62x39, but I have little desire to shoot either and break the silence. Just the continuing surge of flood water against banks, and the endless hummm of mosquitoes.
I dug around in my ATV pack for a bottle of Cutter, and also found a can of warm beer, so I'm set for the moment. The dark and gathering clouds tell me that I wont be staying long.

I cant help but wonder how many spring fawns, quail nests, and Turkey nests were lost to the weather this time.
The debris floating down the middle tells me that it isnt crested yet.

Shot my Ar yesterday at 300 yds mbus peep, a2 front sight post. Fired perfecta 55 gr fmjbt about 1 - 2 moa. First time at that distance.

*Broke a firing pin today* (a first). After buying a very cool, first Spanish Star BM 9 last week, I dry-fired it about 8-10 times...then noticed the many reminders not to ever Dry fire. About 150 rds. were consumed after that. A few "Partial" FTExtract per hundred rds. were no big deal (new extractor ordered). Novices: Don't be confused-worn extractor or ext. spring have nothing to do with the firing pin.

Today at the range, after about nine-ten rds. no more.
The front tip of the pin was no longer visible, whether static or while pushing the 'button' shape on the rear of the firing pin. A new one was ordered from "Jack's First" in SD.

Just advice, to help You avoid complacency. Even if I hadn't dry-fired a few times on the first day, I suspect that the front of the pin had already been weakened years ago in Spain, before importing recently via Century.
Switched at the club today to the superbly-reliable, and more rugged M&P .22 and Romanian AK (SAR-1).

Yesterday I took my repaired P95 to the range to see how it worked. So far so good. I also brought my Pico to get some practice and cycle my carry ammo. Had a couple of jams with both. Not sure why in the Ruger. On the Pico I might not have pulled back on the slide enough on a new mag.

I also took my S&W M63 and fired a box of ammo though it just for fun.

I only stayed about an hour at the range since inhad a ton of things planned for my day off

first hundred rounds through my new-to-me police-trade-in Glock 22 from Classic Firearms. Shot great as expected. I think a great deal at $299 and two extra mags for $9.99 each. Was $354 total price with shipping and insurance. Plan on adding Talon grips and going to try a Larry Vickers trigger.

Nothing!!!!! And it sucks! In fact it blows!

If it’s possible, it sucks and blows at the same time!

Could use some trigger therapy. Just saying.

Shot My S&W Model 15-3, Ruger Security Six, Glock 17, and Ruger SR-1911. Shot the best with the 1911, and thinking of getting some new hogue grips for the Security six, .357 kicks quite a bit.

My stepdaughter and I went out to the club last night- mostly we shot a couple of Rugers (MkII and MKIII) and a few through the Walther ppsm2. Was happy to spend time with her.
I've been wanting a ruger .22lr semi auto, I heard that disassembly is a pain on the earlier rugers, is that true?

Dermechant, disassembly is easy, reassembly can be tough if you don't follow the directions. Mkiii can a bit tougher than the Mkii. There are some videos on youtube that go a long way as to helping.

Went out to the club and took the mkii out. Shot at 25 and 50 yards. Need more practice.
