I didn't pay attention to last year's coverage.

I wasn't aware of "Shooting Reviews" until I opened this thread.

Derek, I was at the SHOT Show, and I think you did a good job covering lots of bases.
As many readers here know, I covered SHOT in a different way, through my Examiner column, and by writing the previews in a couple of publications TheGunMag.com and Northwest Sportsman.

Derek:
If you were at media day at the range, I'd like to ask YOU a couple of questions:

What did you think of the way everything was lumped into one big shoot with about 1,100 writers and would-be writers?

Did you get to see ALL you wanted to see????

Sorry we didn't get a chance to hook up somewhere. Maybe next year!

I thought it was hard go get to everything. We didn't have time for all of the stations at the range at itself, much less visit the booths in the middle.

There were a lot of products I would have loved to get to handle/shoot, but we ran out of time. Of course, it was SHOT and running out of time is expected pretty much all-around. :)

It's certainly worth attending again.

Re: seeing everything I wanted to? Nope - there were at least 5 booths I was looking forward to visiting that I never even saw.

The other website? Wouldn't have known it existed.

Barely any content on it, not even sure why there's categories when there's only a single item in a number of them.

If three people can produce only that much content for the entire show, why go with the intent of reporting on it? Other blogs that shall not be named managed to cover far more with the same number of people or less in some cases. C'mon guys, step up your game!

Chicks in tight clothes or little 2 no clothes holding/modeling the new guns?

There is very little of that at SHOT. usually the companies that engage in it are vewry small, new to the market (like first time at SHOT), or more european oriented (CZ springs to mind.)

Keep in mind that at SHOT, the companies are selling to dealers, not consumers.

I would really prefer not having the whole review being nothing but black/plastic/tactical crap.

There were also a lot of target, hunting and sport shooting guns with wood and blue steel that never seem to get covered on forums like these
