If this topic has already been covered here extensively, I apologize.

I have no idea exactly what the end of the assault weapon ban means here in California. I assume that just because federal laws may no longer prohibit the sales and manufacturing of high capacity mags, poor schmucks in Los Angeles and San Francisco still won't be able to buy them thanks to state and local laws.

Will we able to purchase Colt AR-15's again? What about Steyr AUG's, HK 91's and 93's, FN FALS's, etc.

Will Chinese weapons like Polytech Legend AK's still be banned? Detachable clip SKS's? Can we put bayonets back on our SKS's which were stripped from the guns to make them legal for sale here.

I hope there is some good news for shooting enthusiasts here in the "Golden State."

At least we don't get too many hurricanes!:D

I think you're in the same boat as us New Yorkers...the repeal of the federal ban means nothing because of state bans that are in place. California is even worse than New York. At least I can still buy pre-ban mags. You can't.

Don't hold your breath

Most likely, you will see a severe backlash with renewed efforts by your representatives to ..."protect the children." This was one of the reasons my wife and I picked up and moved.

Quick rant: It is amazing how little people know about their gun laws. I guess the good thing is that people are getting on here and asking and we have a chance to educate them. However, it is still a little frustrating when people that probably should have been paying attention, don't. Oh well, back to the education part.

The sunset of the Federal AWB means nothing to the State of California. Nothing. We still have SB-23 that bans just about everything with a detachable magazine except the M1A and Mini-14. We still have a restriction on magazines with a capacity higher than 10 rounds (if you had them prior to Jan 1, 2000 (I think that was the date), you got to keep them. Now you can't get anymore! (unless you use your imagination)

The most interesting comment was made by SteelEye about backlashes. The PRK residents actually are safe from a backlash, because nothing changes here. It is the rest of you free Americans who better be vigilent as the backlash will occur on your turf. Actually, it will probably start here in the PRK. Yes, all of you happy to have left and encourage everyone else to leave types still can't see the damage you are causing. If there are nothing left but liberals in this state, then there will always be roughly 50 House members and 2 senators that will always introduce their attempts at utopian perfection to the rest of the country. And there won't be a darn thing you can do about it because those people are untouchable in this state because all of the good people left. If you want to end AWBs for ever, you need to end them in California. Yes we are your test bed for wacky liberal ideas. Get rid of the test bed and stay vigilant and we would be doing much better.

Well, at least with the AWB expired, you can put telecoping stock/folding stock on your Ruger 10/22.

All it means for people in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornistan is you can now drool at photos of the toys we can own in free America. :D

It means that you can go to gun shows in Nevada and Washington and buy unmarked magazines for cheap and bring them back. Who is going to know? Bwahahahaha

Makes no difference here. This state has a permanent ban, though not as bad as CA.
We can still buy post-bans (not sure how this will be handled now?)& pre-bans at inflated prices.
