I NEED TO IDENTIFY A PISTOL I INHERITED...
THE ONLY MARKS ON IT ARE A SERIAL NUMBER - ON THE BUTT, .32 LONG, - ON THE BARREL, AND THE WORD SPAIN ON THE HANDGRIP CLOSE TO THE TRIGGER GUARD. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF GUN THIS IS, AND WHAT IT IS WORTH...

Well, what you've got yourself there is a Spanish pistol chambered in .32 Long. It's either an autoloader (has another part for bullets that slides-up inside the handle) or a revolver (with a wheelie deal between the hammer & the barrel). It's worth somewhere between $2 as a paperweight and several hundred thousand $ if we can find it's covered with Amelia Earhart's DNA.

Okay, I'm joking. But a photo sure would help.

A picture or a better description would help a lot, but Spanish guns in general are not held in high regard. The worst were the revolvers and autoloading pistols made in the 1920's and 1930's and imported into the U.S. by the thousands. Since your gun is marked ".32 Long", which is a revolver cartridge, I would assume that is the type of gun you have. The revolvers of that period were really bad; made of cheap cast iron, they have often blown up when fired.

I strongly urge you to have that gun checked by a gunsmith if you are even considering firing it. As you may have gathered, the value is next to nothing. Worse, if you sell the gun and it fails and injures someone, you could be liable.

Jim
