What kind of material to clean my 870 Express

I took it apart for the first time and I used Hoppes No.9 and cotton patches. I scratched some parts of the barrel with the patches.

What do you guys use to clean your gun?


Also, for those with the 870 Express 18" synthetic stock with the +2 mag extension. How do you attach the clamp that clamps the mag extension and barrel together. I scratched up the mag extension right where the clamp holds the 2 barrels. What's your trick of the trade?

It's probably not actually scratched. The rough exterior does tend to mar, but you can rub out the marks, usually.

I use rags I buy from Home Depot. Anything that doesn't fray and disintegrate when it contacts the rough surface is fine.

If you mean the inside of the barrel, it might just have streaks from the solvent. A dry patch will remove them.
