i recently purchased a mauser rifle its in very good shape except that the previous owner replace the original stack with a custom(very nice stock, but i'd rather have the original), it has mauser chileno modelostamped in the side near the reciever but the numbers are worn, underneith that it says manufactura loewe berlin. it has the number d9182 stamped in the barrel near the reciever and at the front of the reciever it has the same number with what looks like a little bomb underneith, on the bolt it has the soviet hammer and sickle stamped in with the number 82. it has no iron sites and i see no evidence that it ever didexcep for a small hole where the reaer site may have been, there are no markings near the muzzle, it is 7x57 caliber and the bolt handle is squared, could anyone tell me waht model this is.

sounds like the 1895 Chilean

Nice shooters. A shame someone butchered it. They were manufactured by Mauwer and are considered to be some of the finest Mausers produced. The '95 action isn't a strong as the later variants, but they are well regarded.
