I built a lightweight .22 for fun and can't decide on an optic. The rifle is a Ruger 10-22 action with a threaded Tactical Solutions fluted aluminum 16" bull barrel in a Knoxx Axiom stock. The package feel like a toy and is super compact. I had a Millett DMS-1 scope on it because I wanted the 1-4x magnification with the illuminated reticle. But this scope was so heavy it detracted from the fee of the gun.
I want the gun to be a fun plinker that's optimized for night time varmint control (skunks & coons) and overall handiness.
I've been thinking about going with one of the micro red dots, but still wish I had some magnification. I don't want this thing to look like an AR and definately will not be putting a ACOG on my .22!
I wish there was a compact 1" tubed low power variable with illumination, but there's just not! At least not in a reasonable price range for a rimfire.
What would you guys suggest?
