I'll be getting a Thompson Machine Operative B integrally silenced Marlin Mk II. It's ported barrel is optimized for Mini-Mag HP (taking to 1280 fps. down to 1030 fps). Of course right now you have to take what you can find. What other common value pack varieties that are easy to come by are loaded to similar velocities (mid to high 1200s)?

Being in Phoenix, I have some flexibility shooting faster ammo in the summer.

PS. I'm posting a factory ammo question in general since is is not reloading or handloading. Mods feel free to move if I'm mistaken that this is the place for it.

Armscor High velocity is very similar to the Mini Mag in both performance and construction. By all reports it's very good ammo, as well. It's copper-plated, like Mini Mags, which greatly aids its feeding in semi-autos.

CCI Blazers (LRN) 1235ft/sec & 135 ft-lbs (same exact #s published for the copper plated MiniMags)

Federal Game Shok are copper plated and are at 1240 ft/sec and 137 ft-lbs.

The Aguila .22 Super Extra LR High Velocity are also very similar at 1255ft/sec 140ft-lbs and are also copper plated.

Winchester Super X
Winchester White Box (222, 333, 555)
Federal Champion
Aguila Super Extra

Armscor... yeah. I've read a lot of hit or miss reviews on that ammo. I'm not sure if it's guys not knowing if it's bad in autoloaders or if the quality is that polarizing. If you're going to get it, the round nose seems to be held in higher regard than the hollow points.

Stay away from Remington.

That was very helpful!

I also poked around and found this extensive list: http://www.ruger1022.com/docs/22lrballistics.htm

No problem - I finally had to take inventory and keep track of ammo inventory in ye olde computer. I was running across too many sales when out of town, only to find when I got home that I already had enough of whatever I found at a good price.
I now keep an inventory sheet in my car so I know whether to load up or not.

Can you find any 22 in your area?

Our local gun shop is being overrun with it these days, and his prices aren't bad.

He usually runs around $5 / brick more than Walmart, and actually has some priced the same.

I walk by the ammo every time I'm at Walmart and have never seen .22LR in my area. Everything else is back in volume.
