Hello the camp!

I'm finally able to put together a kit for the 600 yard range my club opened a couple of years ago. I've settled on the rifle & cartridge (Tikka, 6.5 Swede) but need to choose a scope (& mounts). What current production brand & model would you recommend?

Most serious target scopes appear to be mil dot types, but from my reading I have the impression that mil dot's advantage (over MOA) is that it's useful for range estimation. But my ranges will be fixed- 200,. 300 & 600 yards, with a chance for an occasional 1000 yd. shoot.

shooting at fixed distances you do not need a range finding reticle. shooting at targets during most mid day matches you do not want the latest early morning/late evening lense coatings. the brightness will not help.
......you do need repeatable travel adjustments with a taller target knob. just some things to look for.

Do you have a budget? SWFA 10x42 MRAD is a great place to start for ~$300. Even though you won't need to range with your reticle, having the ability to hold for wind or drop if you so choose can be helpful.

Definitely be sure you get something repeatable. Vortex is a good choice, too. The Razor Gen 2 line is awesome and I love my 3-18x50.

I'm not a target shooter so I won't speak to the scope choice.

If you get the T3(not the T3x), do yourself a favor and throw the rings that come with it away. They are an abomination to the firearm gods. If it were me I'd put an EGW picatinny base on it and either Warne or Burris rings with the inserts.

I am going to give you my usual answer Nikon or Leupold. Although I have heard the Bushnell elite stuff is pretty good. I had a couple Bushnell's ( not elites) that soured me on them years ago.
