I don't get it. Mods will close a thread where someone is asking for advice and opinions and everyone is politely contributing.
But they allow constant disruptive, disrespectful, trolling posts by other members to continue.

I am thinking it may have happened during the migration from the old server to the new one. 4V50Gary is one of the most lenient moderators on any forum I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. Maybe someone overrode him. Too bad for us. Yes, we are in someone else's home, but that does not mean cowtowing to someone else's opinion. If we behave and are polite, and follow the forum rules, there should no reason for closing a thread. If they have had enough of someone's rude behavior, the mods can just lock it without deleting it. One may not be able to post to that thread again, but at least one can see what was posted and make a determination as to what was good and what may have been overboard, and adjust their behavior accordingly.

I guess it is what it is and it ain't what it ain't. I am hoping THR keeps within the same vein since I joined in 2010. Looking for a reply from the admin/mods.

I'm 99.9% positive that it was closed not due to advice about carrying a percussion revolver for self defense vs a modern firearm, it was IMHO because advice was being given on a potentially bad situation where legality may come back to bite due to said advice.

The best approach for raising issues about staff action is to contact the staff member in question, or another staff member and ask for more information.

The second best approach, by a wide margin, is to post a public question in the Site Support subforum.

Posting a complaint thread about staff action in one of the other subforums is off topic and therefore unacceptable.

The server move has nothing to do with moderation. There have been no moderation changes, and there will be no moderation changes, resulting from the server move. That said, not all mods are available all the time and as a result sometimes it is necessary for staff members to fill in for those who are out of pocket.

The advice I provided above is not merely a "shut up and don't bother us" blurb, it is useful advice. If you have a problem with staff actions, contact the staff member in question (or another staff member) and present your case. Staff actions can be reversed.
