I like something with a message. :D

I have a good cowboy hat I like. Protects me from sun, rain, and flying brass. And it's tactical black, too! :p

I like the Royal Robbins (their regular, not 5.11 line) boonie hat. Very lightweight and rainproof, but it just can't cover up my red neck. :D

b) a desperate Sojer o' Fortune wannabe
c) a mall ninja with an NEF handirifle

You know...SOF wannabe and mall ninja isn't in the hat, it's in the poser :)

I like a light colored tan or khaki colered baseball type hat. Dark colors absorb the heat and will bake your head. In Winter this is not a problem. I like the ball hat because they keep the sun off my nose and I can wear hearing protection over the hat if I want to. This is diffucult with hats that have a brim on all sides.

If I didn't wear that type of hat the bucket hat works good.

Yeah, me no like dark hats. The black fur atop my melon takes in enough sun as it is

If I need to stay warm, I put on a beanie, then put on the boonie hat for 360 degree protection against falling brass :)

I use tin foil....keeps out the sun and those alien mind reading light waves.......do not wear in a trailer park during a thunder storm.....:uhoh:

My Shooting Hat

My particular Shooting Hat is an old all-leather Henschel, purchased before the original company went broke some years back.
It looks, after all this time, amazingly similar to the Indiana Jones fedora, and I have modified it by having four cartridges loops sewn vertically up
the right side of the crown.
These do duty during target shooting my .308 and/or .30-06 bolt rifles.
I had the work professionally done, and there is no doubting the purpose of this hat----

I'll 3rd the Tilley. Just wish they had it in Advantage Timber so I could hunt with one too! Oh well, I put a request in to old man Tilley. We'll see if they come up with one.

TonyB,

Aluminum Foil works just as well. In addition, its lighter and cheaper than tin foil.:D

I wear 3 types of hats:

Low profile sport caps, well broken in.
Boonie caps.
Cowboy hats.

My hearing protection consists of custom fit earplugs for outdoors or indoor pistol, and a behind the neck set of muffs for indoor rifle (or outdoor .300 or .50). This allows me to wear whatever hat I want.

I'm a big fan of Tilley's. In the winter, I like Fedoras and also newsboys. But, for a shooting hat, I like a billed-cap w/ a low crown. I want a hat that I can wear ear muffs over comfortably with a bill to keep falling brass out of my face.

NY baseball cap is what I wear along with my Nike, Addias, and Puma sport hats. I do wear Harley bandana once in a while. In winter, I wear the Russian thick cap.
