What's so great about .450 Bushmaster?

The best thing about the 450 bm is that it uses cheap bullets as 230 grain 45 acp bullets go for around $100/1000. Where bullets for the 458 socom generally weigh and cost more like 405 grain and around $100/500. For my use I wanted the most energy subsonic and didn't want to suppress any larger hole than I had to.

That's a pretty BA setup. How much did that run you, if you don't mind me asking?

The RRA upper was $650 and $200 for the stamp for the form 1. I built the suppressor out of scrap material (4130, 4140 and 7075).

If you like the AR platform and live in a state which doesn't allow rifle cartridges such as .308,.223,6.8 etc it might be something to consider. Do we really want to try to figure out if you "need" it?

but a bigbore AR is alot easier to swing about than a shotgun.

Umm, try again :D Everything is clumsy compared to a M94 or a short barreled slug gun

Do we really want to try to figure out if you "need" it?

Yes we need it. And a lot more.
I see nothing wrong with lots of caliber choices. How does it hurt anything?
Just because some people think there is no "niche", why limit what someone else might like?
The thing that is great about the .450 Bushmaster is if you want one, you can get one.
If you want one gun to do everything, you can do that too. (but I like more than one, just sayin')

Yeah, I just don't think it's for me. I'll never be the one to tell you that you don't need a gun (I don't think that anyone on this forum is), but I'm on a budget. Like I said before, for me, I don't see any need for it. You guys can buy all you want.

I have a 458 socom. If you handload it is not that expensive. I bought starline brass and 300 and 405 g remington brass from Cabela's. I have an eotech sight on it. It is very accurate and it knocks the hell out of anything you hit. I figure it would put down 7 large mammals very quickly. I suppose my rem 1100 with slugs would also. I would like to build a double stack mag so It would hold a few more rounds. I am sure the bushmaster 450 would work about the same.

The round is a poor fit with the 556 magazine, however the accuracy isn't too bad. Here is a 100 yard and two 200 yard groups:
