My oldest is a Mauser 1895 that I purchased to use as a prop for a World History class I was teaching. Never shot, cleaned it up and refinished the stock. Added an appropriate bayonet and sling, makes a nice wall-hanger.

I have a Russian's Nagant 1895 marked 1942, don't know any history behind it bought two years ago, good shape, good shooter.

Hello friends and neighbors // Lots of dream guns in this thread.

Verified- 1851 Colt Navy .36 cal. manuf. in 1861.

Unverified - Muzzle loading shotgun 1840s, closest we can come to a date.
One like it on GB was listed as Secondary Confederate Military.

'03 Springfield I guess. Followed by a CZ 27 WWII bring home and then a 1934C 1911 that my Grandfather handed-down to me. Wait! Almost forgot a couple of M98s in there, one of them is roughly 1901/02 vintage.

Mike Dauben ... I've got a Smithy exactly like that which my Dad paid $10.00 for back in the early 60s. It wasn't until recently that I found out how old it was - your pic reminded me of it, a safe queen. The bakelite grip on the right side has a slight chip missing on the one Dad gave me.

I picked up a Colt 1903 .32ACP Hammerless at an estate sale. It was made in 1905 and still shoots as well as it did should have when new. Not much finish left on it, but a ton of character. The crazy uncle owned the gun so not much was mentioned about it's history... I can only imagine since the old boy was from Chicago back in the day.

I picked up an Ithica double barrel 16 gauge shotgun with damascus barrels several years ago. From everything I can find It dates backs back to the 1912 era I believe. It was from a neighbor of ours that was in her 90's. Her husband had passed many years ago and wanted it to go to someone that could appreciate it.

I was going to say my recently acquired Redhawk (1982) but got thinking my Mosin is actually a 1927. Mosin!

Oldest I have is a July 1941 Remington Targetmaster. Ready to passed on to my grandson Taylor for his first rifle.

Sc Slowhand ... very nice. I'm not far from you, we need to do some shootin;.

To the poster with the old Ithaca ... I can help you ID and date that shotgun if you'd like.

1917 Enfield 30-06 built by Winchester. It was purchased by my father from the NRA shortly after he returned home after serving in WWII.

1935 model 91/30 Mosin Nagant. it was made at the Tula plant. Hex reciever, recently re-stained the stock, and de cozmolined the entire rifle. really nice:D.

I have a 1793 smoothbore musket, converted to percussion caps later. It's not in shootable condition and has some ancient-looking repairs on the barrel.

Currently the oldest one I have is a Steyr 8mm made in 1915, re chambered in 1935. I did have one Colt 36cal revolver that was confirmed to be dated 1862, made a mistake and sold it.

1947 Mosin-Nagant M44. Clean, mostly original, and complete, but it's been restocked, all the other numbers match but for the buttplate. Bore is bright & shiny, blueing is G/VG, stock is in decent shape, and it shoots minute-of-capitalist-pig just fine. Reckon it'll be an heirloom someday, if i ever have kids.

Oldest Firearms

I have a New York Militia Remington 50-70 which is civil war era and a 1879 Springfield Trapdoor with bayonet, frog, etc, as well as a 3rd Model 1873 Winchester, manufactured around 1881-1883. Both the single shots are in good condition and I shoot them often in BP matches at 200 yds. The Winchester is in fair condition and is very accurate under 100 yds.
