What's your typical range trip?

my typical trip is too short.

usually try to bring one of every flavor i own, semi auto, bolt, pump. all different calibers and spend an hour and a half or so plinking.

For the last couple of years, each trip to the range includes my youngest son, along with:

A 'Chipmunk' that I bought for him (that resides in the gunsafe!)
A Ruger 10/22
My Remington 541-T Sporter
S&W mdl 41 w/ 5-1/2" barrel

Colt Gold Cup NM
Glock G-21

K98k Mauser

Enough ammo to last the session, whether it's two hours, or all day.

Lots of Gatorade for the kid, and coffee (and Gatorade) for the old man.
There's always a lunch packed and good conversation comes along, too.

When we get to the range, it's usually around 7:00 a.m., or so, and the regular High Power Shooters are there, practicing and checking out their equipment.

Sometimes, it's just my son and me. These are the best times.

Watching him 'take out the enemy soldiers' (empty 12 ga. shotshells) strategically placed at 25 to 50 yds with one of the .22s is a real kick in the pants!

That's my usual trip to the range.
I'm glad the weather's getting warmer. I truly enjoy my range time with my kids.
My oldest daughter (she's 25) surprised me when she said that she wants to start joining us, last year.
Now, I just have to get their siblings to get the urge!!

Thanks for reading.

Most of the time, my trips look like I'm trying to shoot everything I have! I don't go often enough so I hate to leave any guns at home. I always take the four pistols. I always take at least three rifles. Makes for an interesting cleaning session! :D

If I go to shoot sporting clays, then only the shotguns go. I'd never hit a clay target with rifle or pistol! ( others wouldn't appreciate the effort either)

I always enjoy the conversation with other shooters....see what they have with them...but mostly how well they use what they brought. I've seen the full range of abilities...from "where do you put the bullets" to "thats ten in a half inch". :D

I'm glad to say that I've never seen any trouble between shooters. Been lucky in that respect.

Mark.

If I am shooting long guns I usally do it on my uncles farm. Shoot everything from 12ga Rem. 1100 to Remington 700 30-06 to Marlin 39A Golden Mountie. Whatever else anyone else happens to have. We will shoot a complete hodge podge of handguns also.

When I go to the range it is indoor and I usally bring a couple of pistols(SIG 229 40, Kel-Tec P-11 Ruger Single Six etc.... I shoot about 100 rounds through each. I tend to look around and listen to the different guns that are being fired and try to identify what they are. Just a little game I paly with myself:D

I’ll usually shoot an NRA short course with my S&W 41 in .22 and then with the .45 acp.

Then I usually have a new load or new powder to test in the 45 colt or Mod 73. Maybe the contender rifle will have a new load to test in .223 or 30-30. If a season is coming I will rezero that rifle or shoot the shotgun for pattern. There is always a .22 rifle along, a 10-22 or the 39. As I load on a single stage press I only shoot 50 rounds or so with the pistols.

Walk out on Deck, thow a can (beer, tonic (for you no nor'easters soda bottle) out on the uphill lawn (20-25yrds) Shoot my S&W 422 with Outback for 5 magazines.

Next scenario is the same except add Mac 11 380, Sten MKII. shot what ever magazines are loaded (min 6-10)

On Saturday at the shop this winter we have been shooting at the sand shed a different antique at a 2 liter bottle. Last week was a Colt Burgess rifle in 44/40. This week will be a Colt Burgess Carbine. The week before was a Colt lightning rifle in 44/40.

A new trend has started for the next few weeks we will be shooting a rare classic rifle that one of our customers or one of the owners have from their personal collection This will include NFA . Anything to break the winter boredom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is 4/12 we are having a Nor’easter snow now measures 10 inches on my deck . My wife and son has been watching the black bear who stole the bird feeders on our deck eating the seeds. He is about 300lbs. and very pretty looking.

Depends on my mood;
Mil-surps
Mini-14 and Mini-30
Shotguns
rimfires (rifles & semi auto's/revolvers)
Revolvers/semi auto's in centerfire calibers

I like to shoot them all but sometimes in a mood for one type or another.
