I'm reconditioning a tired old nickel S&W M19 4" right now and I'm almost done. Now I'm shopping for a nice carry rig for it. This is not a gun I will conceal, it will be worn openly so that all can bask in it's beauty. I've been looking at complete sets (holster, belt, and double speedloader carrier) from Tucker gun leather and El Paso Saddlry, and right now I'm leaning towards the El Paso rig because it is half the cost and looks better IMO.

My main questions now are:
1. Which would you prefer, black or russet color? I want black but I don't know how it would look with a pattern carved into it.
2. Would the floral carved pattern look nice with a shiney revolver? My wife says it makes it look like a sissy gun but I think it looks classy.

Here is the holster I'm looking at

And here are the patterns

I really dig the floral pattern but I'm not sure if it would look good with black leather......

Nickle BBQ guns deserve a carved natural leather rig!! Go for it!!

You want somethin' spiffy, ask Rob about Tucker's Ranger rig.
Be sittin' down when you do... but it's a dandy.

Another one to look at is Kirkpatrick's stuff. They do nice work too.

My preference in leather is for ox blood or assorted other reds; unfortunately, it's well nigh impossible to match holster, belt, and shoe colors.

Hence my first choice of black. I wear black leather shoes and boots and don't wanna confuse people with a nice russet leather rig and my black Danners :uhoh:

Patterns are easier seen on lighter colors. Details tend to fade out or blend together on black.

If I did not need to worry about concealing, I would not go with a pancake design.

Maybe something like the one on the left of this home page?

Tucker's stuff is pretty good, I have a full rig in Black Cherry, with the crosscut pattern (holster, belt, mag carrier) for a 1911 with Ivory Grips.
