Where are there 22LR ammo for sale? Under $30 for 500 rounds

I have gone thru a bunch of the automatch without a single issue. and it shoots better than I do.
I know the Auto Match is good, and is my default to purchase, just wondering if that stuff was as good.

One point that was driven home during the drought on 22 ammo is that good ammo shoots a lot better than cheap ammo. I was able to get good ammo, albeit at higher prices all along. It was pricy, but soooo much more accurate than the stuff I used to buy at $15-$20/500 rounds.

I'll never go back to that junk if the price drops to $5/500 rounds. Some of the ammo selling at $7-8/50 rounds is quite accurate and that is what I'm using when pure accuracy is the goal. But I can get CCI Mini-Mags for about $10/100. It isn't the most accurate stuff I shoot, but ammo at double the price is only slightly better. That is what I shoot mostly now.

Academy has lots of .22 ammo on their website. The only thing I checked was Remington Golden HPs because my 10-22 loves them. A 525 round box is $28 and change plus free shipping on a $25 order. 3-5 business days delivery. Get 1 1/2% back through Ebates. I had a Pay Pal credit of $11 and change. I spent $19 on the brick + 25 rounds.
It does my soul good to buy .22s at a decent price again.
My local Academy has about 50 bricks of Thunderbolt on the shelves for $28.99 ea. They had a smattering of other .22LR, but nothing else bigger than 100 round boxes.

Auto Match was $149.90 for 10 boxes, with $10.90 shipping to me for $160.80 total, but the checkout was all screwed up. Best I have seen it for some time.
Gunbuyer shows out of stock now. I have not seen it that low before at all.

I suspect short of civil war that prices will fall some more.

I used to pay $169 for a case of aguila back in the mid 90s. With inflation that is about $275 today per at least one inflation calculator.

About 5.5 cents per round. So I think we are getting closer to what it once was.

I don't expect to see $69 a case promo ammo again though.

I haven't shot the Winchester M-22 yet. Any comments, especially shot from Ruger 10/22?
I've found M-22 to be the dirtiest, most prone to fouling up actions of any 22 LR I've ever used. Black crap down the neck of the brass on many of the rounds. See the attached photo.

I can 'second' AmmoFast. Great prices, actually fast shipping. And excellent service personnel. When I called with a question about one of the listings, the lady on the phone truly was a lady. Most helpful and didn't sound as if she was pained to talk to customers for a living. There is only one caliber that I can't load myself, Ammofast is the solution to this. And the Aguila is down to twenty three something.

And I don't have to drive all the way down to Wally World. After the college opens for the season this local yokel doesn't even want to be in town, let alone at the store.

My local Wal-Mart has CCI mini mags at ~$7.75/100. They've always got a few boxes in the display case next to the rifles.

I buy a box almost every time I stop in for deodorant or whatever. Just one at a time though, as I've got a pretty good stash and I'm not trying to put others out.

For the accuracy? Or because it is cleaner/less smoky?

Don't know about others but I found accuracy to be on par with CCI SV in two Savage rifles. The kids wouldn't notice much if any difference. My Neos and Single-Six shoot well with it too.

If I could find a steady reliable source for Aguila I would probably shoot it exclusively in all but the auto loaders. I did find a local source tonight but at $69.90/500 took a pass and will resort to guarding my stash. Funny smell or not, it's respectable in my book.

Automatch is accurate, but of course every gun has its own preferences. I get the occasional misfire with Automatch I don't get with the Value Pack, but even that is probably batch and/or gun specific. The bare-lead bullet and waxy lube is the inherent thing I don't like about Automatch.

Since you've got it I don't see any reason to worry about it. Anything Federal is good enough in my experience. I just like Value Pack and American Eagle HP better, when the price is competitive. People are reporting Federal load #750 (Champion HP in 550 round) back at Walmart for less than $23 - that's the real deal. I bought my Value Pack early this year when Federal HP bulk was a rare thing at any price.

AIM surplus had Aguila 40gr plated for $250/5000 a while back. I got 5000 of it.

As of this writing they still have it (and subsonic) in 50 round boxes at $2.49 each if you buy 100 (5K rounds). 500 rounds would be $25.90 (10 boxes of 50).

They also have some noticeably pricey stuff (some of the Federal Match at $8.12/50 or Eley Match at $16.24 per 50).

Aguila Super Extra Subsonic Eley primed. 40gr at the range and hollow point for hunting. I'm now reading that Aguila built a new plant and their rimfire ammo is "Aguila Primed", whatever that means. To me it means buy a brick and see, but with fingers crossed.

Aguila Standard Velocity Solid Point 40grn at 21.90/500. $53.28 was my total for 1000 rounds and I was tempted to order 5-10k but this is the "Aguila Primed" from their new facility. I'm hoping Aguila is maneuvering around royalties or something without having changed the ammo but we'll see. This stuff has all but replaced CCI SV on the range for me and I hunt with the hollow point version.

AIM was out of Subsonic but also had High Velocity under $25/500 for those who prefer more pep.

I ordered a 525 round box of Remington Golden HPs from Academy for $18 and change. Received an email tell me they were shipped with an expected delivery of last Wednesday. On Wednesday FedEx tracking said "Label created" so not actually shipped. After quite a hassle trying to talk to a live person I finally got some one on "live chat", She couldn't help me and referred it to "higher authority.
To shorten this a bit I was Facebook messaged by "higher authority" saying the Remington shells were out of stock and they would credit my PayPal account the $30 and change (including tax) AND send me a 525 round box of Winchester White Box FREE, AND A 25% discount code for my next purchase.

I call that good customer service. I'll give Academy as much business as I can.
