Ammunition Depot has some deals on bulk 22LR (5000 round cases) that work out to under $30 for 500 rounds. I don't know if they're still shipping orders for over $200 free, but even without that, depending on location the shipped price could still stay under $30 for 500.

At least that what they advertised (I'm referring to the Eley priming here) and showed on the box in the picture. A few days ago I decided to try some to compare to the CCI Std. Velocity I am now using and take advantage of the free shipping. My order came today, and it is the Aguila Primed Std. Velocity. I called to complain. Cabelas does not take back any ammunition, and I was told to take it to the local sheriffs department to be "properly" disposed of. The sheriff will issue a form stating that was done, and then, only then, Cabelas will refund my money.

I only bought 2 bricks, so its hardly worth my trouble. Hopefully, the Mexican primed ammo will shoot OK.

I don't know if all mail order ammo is subject to a no return policy, but that sure makes it less attractive if you happen to run into a problem, as I did.

I just got off the phone with Cabelas customer service and a product rep. The outcome of this call was way better than my first.

FYI, the product rep indicated that Cabelas only has the "Mexican primed" ammo for sale, and they will be changing their website accordingly now that they know there is a difference. The rep claimed that Aguila purchased the Eley digital system and uses it now. So its the same thing? They offered to let me try it out before we go to a full refund mode. I'll do that.

Yes, MiniMags are very good ammo. My 10/22 TD shoots Federal Champion quite well and have been happy with "Eley Prime" Aguila ammo as well.

I actually stocked up quite a bit on Federal Range & Field 38 gr CPHP (1260 fps) 275 round boxes, Federal Champion 36 gr CPHP (1260 fps) 525 round boxes and Aguila "Eley Prime" 40 gr CPRN (1250 fps) and wanted to wait on buying MiniMags.

But I am quite happy with the performance of these 22LR ammo so I may not stock up on MiniMags (I may change my mind).
