Good resource but you have to factor cost of shipping.

The lowest price of 3.9 cents per round does not include shipping. For Federal 40 gr Lead RN, there's 20 box limit so for 1000 rounds, shipping charge is $25.41 and comes out to $32/500 (which is above the $30/500 shipped criteria I have for this thread) - https://ammoking.com/federal-american-eagle-22-lr-high-velocity-solid-40-gr-50-rounds/?

I searched for lowest shipping charge and 4.1 cents per round Aguila 40 gr Lead RN was priced $2.09/50 with shipping charge of $12.99 for 20 boxes which came out to $27.39/500 shipped - https://www.foundry35.com/products/...ity-50-round-box-1b222332?variant=47212464714

I then searched for compromise between lowest cost per round of 4 cents per round and lower shipping charge and found Winchester 36 gr CPHP (1280 fps) 222 round box for $8.95. With limit of 10 boxes and $27.84 shipping charge, came out to $26.42/500 shipped - https://www.ammomenllc.com/store/in...ducts_id=139&zenid=0to0apc20tkq2dsnfa5eths7d7

In comparison, higher priced 4.6 cents per round Aguila primed 40 gr CPRN HV (1250 fps) came out lower at $22.99/500 shipped - https://www.targetsportsusa.com/agu...y-plated-lead-round-nose-1b222328-p-3436.aspx

And at 4.8 cents per round, Federal Champion HV 40 gr Lead RN (1240 fps) at $23.99/500 shipped - https://www.targetsportsusa.com/fed...n-lead-round-nose-500-rounds-510-p-53759.aspx

I've been curious about the Aguila Standard Velocity 40 gr Lead RN, and needed some more Fed 9MM 124 gr HST, so I ordered some. I'll test the Aguila against the Fed Auto Match my guns like.

I had a chance to go to the range today and test the Aguila SV ammo against CCI Standard Velocity. Somebody gave me a box of the
Ely primed version so I had both Aguila priming options to test. The ammo:

I shot through two .22 target pistols, a Ruger Mark III 22/45 and a High Standard Victor. The test was conducted off of sandbags supporting the pistol butt and my wrists and hands. I shot at 25 yards at a rapid/timed fire bullseye target. Both pistols are topped with identical Millet red dots. The pistols:

My strategy was to shoot 10 shot groups from a magazine over a CE Prochrono Digital. I shot the CCI ammo first because both pistols were conditioned to it. I then shot a 10 shot fouling group with one version or the other of the Aguila before I shot the test group. I'm not sure if that was enough to get the full accuracy potential from the Aguila but there were time constraints, other shooters sighting in their deer rifles, and I only had a single box of Ely primed.

The results:

Conclusions? CCI, consistent with good accuracy. Aguila Ely primed, good accuracy if you discount the fliers, great statistics, very consistent. Aguila primed, not too bad accuracy wise but definetly not as consistent as Ely primed. So if the fliers are real, that is a problem. However, they very well could be my fault. I did have some eye fatigue during the course of the test.

I recently shot the Aguila Super Extra (Aguila primed) against Fed Auto Match, Blazer 40 Gr, & 40 Gr Mini Mags. I used a S&W Model 41, a Sig Trailside, and a Tac Sol AR upper.

The Trailside shot better than the 41. The Blazer and the Aguila out shot the Auto Match, and if you tossed fliers, as good as the Mini Mags. Over all I was real happy with the Blazer, Aguila, and Mini Mags. My AR upper loves the Mini Mags, the 41 liked the Blazer & Aguila, hated the Auto Match, and shot the Mini Mags well. The Mini Mags are a lot more expensive than the Blazer or Aguila. The Trailside shot all well to very well.

I too had "fliers" that were either me (Easy to believe) or what you live with with "inexpensive .22 LR. That said, I shot some Fed Gold Medal the next day and it had the same issue. So me? :)

The moral of the story is the Blazer and the Aguila is a good bang for the buck as far as accuracy went in my guns.

Thanks Walkalong. FYI, MidwayUSA Blazer 22LR 40 gr Lead RN (1235 fps) is Black Friday deal with price good from 11/20/17 through 11/27/17 ($21.99/500 shipped for case purchase of 5000) - https://www.midwayusa.com/product/413993/blazer-ammunition-22-long-rifle-40-grain-lead-round-nose

Call and be sure what they are going to send, don't rely on the pic.
Agree.

I made my post for "Aguila Primed" based on these comments from Q&A section:

"Bob (06/14/17) - Just got it today and it's Aguila Prime, not eley prime."

"Zhaohui (05/14/17) - The actual box says Aguila Prime instead of Eley Prime pictured. I also noticed on Aguila's website all Eley Prime on the packaging have changed to Aguila Prime."

Midway also has a $10 promo code (>$100) today and tomorrow. I think you have to apply it as soon as you open their site. I couldn't find it after I put something in my cart. At least it helps with the shipping!

They are showing Aguila standard velocity at:

List Price:
$599.99

Sale Price:
$189.99
That is intellectually dishonest IMHO. I hate when companies do that. That turns me off right away and unless they have a screaming deal I won't buy from them. In their defense (Barely) they aren't the only company who is doing this.

$219 shipped at Target Sports (No ridiculous list price), so, depending on the shipping.

Fed Ex at OU is $27.80. $189.99+$27.80=$217.79 (On "sale"). Ok, a hair cheaper, but I'll stick with Target Sports who consistently has good prices and shows shipped price up front.

If you're in the southern OH area, AIM Surplus runs "in house" specials every week or two, prices just for walk in customers. They had Aguila .22's for $19.90 a brick, and brass PPU .30 Carbine for $14.95 a box of 50.

They also always have some brand of brass 9mm for less than $9 a box.

Hope this doesn't hijack the thread, but anybody have any experience with the Federal bulk packs of 550 in the RED box? The old ones in the BROWN box from 10 or 12 years ago were atrocious for me-at least 10% squibs. Back then they were saying the BLUE box of 525 was far better, but now they are selling a RED one. Just wondering, as it's pretty cheap. They also have the 1000 round twin pack of Winchester M-22, but it's increased in price over 10 bucks in the last few months.

Brownell is selling 2500 rounds (5 boxes 500) of Aguila 40 gr CPRN (1255 fps) for $102.45 ($20.45/500 shipped) with M3P $10 off code - https://gun.deals/product/aguila-22-long-rifle-40gr-copper-plated-round-nose-500box-3999

FYI, picture on ad shows "Eley Prime" on box.

I have recently been shooting 10/22 Take Down and PSA 16" ARs with CMMG 22LR bolt conversions with Federal 36 gr CPHP, Aguila 40 gr CPRN (Eley Prime) and Aguila 40 gr CPRN (Aguila Prime). Aguila prime shot comparable to Federal and Eley prime shot better.

Last week I walked out of my least favorite retailer (Walmart) with three buckets of Remington Golden Bullets for the first time in at least four years.
