This thread is for the purpose of posting places where Handloaders/Reloaders may be able to acquire primers. I keep hearing that the availability is improving, but the dealers I frequent never seem to have the particular product I need.

If you have information, please add a post on this thread, and AVOID STARTING yet another thread. If you list a dealer, please include a link to the web site, and a phone number.

Please note: It DOES NO GOOD to list places where there WERE primers for sale. If you got some at a local gun show which won't be repeated for months, or from a one-time-only local liquidation, it doesn't help other members, and you're just bragging.

It is my hope that we'll be able to discontinue this "sticky" soon, when the situation improves. One thing to remember: It is unrealistic to suppose that prices will EVER come down to where they were before last November. As Jeff Cooper wrote, "The past is another country."

Member The Real Mags sent a suggestion for this thread, and his input is appreciated.

Best regards,

Primers in Local NM bicycle shop

Northeast Cyclery at 8305 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque has hundreds of thousands small rifle primers in stock! They also have a few thousand small pistol primers and shotgun primers as well. They take cash or check only and only sell by the thousand for 39.99.

Jacksonville NC area

Hubert NC Flattwoods Gun shop 910-353-7593 Next to jacksonville NC If you live in the area this is the place. Always have SPP, mostly always have rifle primer and some times LPP. limit to 200 per person per day. Hope this helps

also

Jacksonville NC Sports mans lodge 910-937-6334. this place is more hit or miss when it comes to primers but usully have LPMAGP.

hope this helps

I ordered primers from www.cabelas.com on Aug.13 and they were delivered today !

MAGTECH sm. pistol were $29.99 and Remington 209 shotgun were $40.99 for 1000
I know they were a little expensive and more when you add in the Hazmat fee but "You can't always get what you want but sometimes you get what you need"
I just checked and they are both still in stock !

Steeltown

I've ordered primers from both Powder Valley and Widners and the prices tend to even out as shipping/handling is a lot less at Widners.

Albuquerque NM

Ron Petersons on Central has large pistol and Los Ranchos on 4th st. has small rifle.

In Murfreesboro,TN at On Target Indoor Shooting Range, they have CCI SP primers at $35 a carton.Bought a carton today. Byron

As of 8/20 (PM), Scheels in Des Moines has nearly every brand and primer in stock except Winchester....just picked up another 4000 SR today.

Vance's in Columbus Ohio has them. You can only get 1000 per visit and I know the LP is $40 out the door and I think everything else was something like $37 out the door.

Fellow Virginians (sorry everyone else),

If you are within driving distance of the Warrenton/Opal Virginia area, Clarks Brothers gun shop frequently has primers in stock, just give a call and ask, they'll even hold a box or two for you if you ask. Good bunch of guys to deal with even if the prices are a little higher.

I was just at Vance's in Columbus, OH. They've got a whole section filled with CCI primers. Maybe 100k of LP, 4k Magnum SP, 50k of small rifle and 50k of large rifle. Sorry no small pistol. However, they did have about 50k of them a week or two ago when I restocked on SP.

They've also got 20-30k of Win 209's and 10k of Federal 209's for you shotgunners.

Good hunting Buckeyes.

Scheels in Cedar Falls IA had all sizes today (I think...) I know they had small pistol, small rifle, and large rifle. They had some magnum primers as well, but I didn't pay attention to what size they were.

Mainly Remmy, and CCI, but some Winchesters BR IIRC.

They also had what looked like a good amount of handgun ammo, but I'm not a handgun guy so I didn't look too close.

It's worth a call if you are willing to drive.

Natchez has Fed small pistol, small rifle and small rifle match in stock now. But still no 215's.

ST
I got a notice they had them in stock and ordered them within 15 minutes. I was able to get 2 boxes of Federal sm. rifle which I'm salting away after using up all my on hand CCI's, waiting for the shipment from Natchez to arrive. I have about 600-700 or so brass ready for powder - which will last me for a while.

...I'll start loading tomorrow and by Tuesday I'll be shooting again. It's been three months or more since I've been to the range.

:cuss:

I hope the damn scare is now over. This time around Natchez still showed them in stock around 45 minutes after all their e-mail notices went out. I'm taking that as a good sign that all the hoarders have maxed out their stocks, and this craziness is past us. Anyway, I now have 2K in new Federal primers sitting, waiting for the next time I start reloading, not counting tomorrow's reloading session. It'll be another three months before I'm needing more ammo again.

Thank you Natchez.
