To get ready for the m1 carbines goin on sale from the cmp, i'd like to pick up a couple mags before the rush for them gets too bad.

where should i look to pick some up? what is a fair price to pay?

thanks!

mike

I was at a gun show yesterday, saw a couple of vendors with carbine magazines. Used ones ranged $8 - 12 and new in the wrap were $15. These were 15 round, the most reliable ones.

I'm in the process of getting my first M1, a Plainfield. I was searching on the net and found Fulton Armory. They have all kinds of parts, as well as stocks, and mags. Mags range from 5 rounders, to 10, to 15, to 30.
I haven't ordered from them yet, but they seem to be highly regarded by the guys on the military rifle forums.

i appreciate the replies! alls i want is a few 15 rounders. does anyone know if the cmp is gonna ship the rifle with any mags? i'd like a total of 4-5. obviously i'd be happy with more, but i want this just to be a fun rifle and i'd settle for 3 but i usually like 4 in case 1 breaks :(

in the quantity i am gonna buy, a price increase sucks, but at least i can kinda absorb it.

I usually troll around E-vil-Bay, and pick up GI 15 rounders still in the wrapper. All those pictured were bought off E-vil-Bay. The "10" round GI mags are indeed 15 rounders. Go figure!

The CMP has stated on their forum that the carbines will not come with any magazines or slings.

Also try Numrich for mags at www.e-gunparts.com

Stay away from 30 round mags unless you absolutely know what you are buying. There are a lot of fake USGI 30 rounders that don't work.

I remember going to a gun show after I got my carbine around 1990 or so, guys were selling these for $1.50, or less for a case of 100. I wish I'd had the forsight and money to have bought more.

I've bought parts from Numrich before. They are good to deal with, in my limited experience.

About ebay; I've wondered myself about the "10 round original USGI carbine magazines" you see al the time there. I know they say that to get around ebay policy, but what do they do when a Californian orders one thinking it really is 10 rounds, receives it and unknowingly commits a felony? I guess I would buy one (as I live in a free state) but I sure wouldn't take the chance of selling one like that.

A big +1 on staying away from non-USGI 30 rounders!
