Which 9mm SBR AR Upper?

I am debating which brand 9mm SBR upper to buy, and what barrel length. I definatley want three lug capability. So I will either be buying a barrel from TROS USA or their thread to three lug adapter. I want usability and want it to be quiet with a suppressor. I dont want to end up with a 20" rifle with suppresor attached. I also want a longer handguard. I would like the handguard to come close to the end of the barrel and just the three lug to stick out. I put a call into RRA and ask if they could install there CAR handguard on there 7" upper. They said they would not do to safety reasons. I told her that i would be putting a can on it, and it would be no big deal. Still recieved a no. I just wanted to get some recomendations.

Options:
8.5" CMMG upper w/ ramped bolt (TROS adapter) It would most likely end up being about 17" with suppressor
dedicated RRA 7" upper- switch out short hand guard to CAR length (TROS adapter)
Custom TROS 7" barrel and build my own? (dont know if they would even do it)
JT 7.5" dedicated upper with CAR length handguard (TROS adapter)

Why would you need a gas vent for a 9mm?

If you are concerned about OAL, go with a 5" TROS 3 lug barrel, ramped bolt, and a heavy buffer like the Slash 9Q with Wolff Xtra power spring to really make it quiet and get rid of any gas blowback issues.

Mine was built on a RRA upper and ran like a sewing machine!

CMMG 7.3", runs like a boss. I have had zero malfunctions in over 500 rounds. On top of that, I had a wonderful experience with their customer service (needed a spare firing pin).

The AR Gas Vent is a unique product that addresses the problem of gas blow back when firing a suppressed AR-15 rifle. Back pressure caused by suppressor use sends gasses and lubricants back into the user's face, and can prevent effective engagement of targets after just a few rounds being fired. As a big fan of suppressors on AR-15s myself, I find this product to be invaluable. It does have one minor caveat in that the forward assist's functionality is removed. However, I follow the EAG Tactical/Pat Roger's way of thinking: If a round doesn't want to feed, eject it and feed the next one, and therefore, have never used the forward assist in years of competition and tactical carbine training.

I've also noticed that the gas vent works great even when firing without a suppressor on!

Heay Buffer and Spring pretty much eliminate the gas issue and port noise making for a quieter rifle. The other added benefit is that the combo also softens recoil.

Gotcha. I don't have a Forward Assist on my 9mm. So I guess I can't use one of these. But for .223, it shure is a lot cheaper than a gas buster charging handle!!
