Which CZ?

I am curious which CZ to buy first? CZ 75 compact .40 or CZ p-01 9mm?

It will be an all round pistol. It will see a bunch of range time, a little concealed carry and primary home defense. I kinda torn between a manual safety of the 75 compact . 40 and the decocker of the p-01. which would be better for ccw? There is like six ounces of difference between the two.

Pretty much I am asking which would be better for concealed carry a gun with a manual safety or gun with a decocker?

None of my CC guns have safeties. Why is that? Because I haven't trained myself to flick one off before/during the draw.

So really it's a neutral statement. Get a CZ with decocker if you don't want to train, get one if you do. Only you can decide which to get.

But the standard answer for a CZ given the parameters you gave would be the P-01 or PCR. Later on you can even get the Kadet 22 kit for more fun.

here is a hint the 75 compact can be carry just like the p01 leave the hamer down ( Safety can't be engage) and bam you got a long first pull and short ones there on after, just like the p01.

also have you considered the cz 40p, or the 40b. You wont find them on the website but look on gun broker.

P-01....I've been lusting after one of these babies. Sounds like it meets your requirements and if you ccw it those 6 ounces will matter.

I have a 75 compact that I carry with the hammer down, I like the fist double action pull on it. It s REAL smooth. The safety can only be on for C&L carry. If you want a double pull to a single pull with the ability to have a safety on & a decocker you could check out S&W autos. I have a 6906 for this reason. It's nice. That all being said , I still want a PO1. Enjoy.

I can't resist recommending the Cz-PO1. They handle well and definitely shoots well. It is very good for CCW since it is a bit small and light.

a manual safety - I'd definitely get one.

Other than for looking cool I don't see the point of a light rail on a gun that may very well end up your primary carry gun. The PCR is the p01 with out the rail. Lighter than the compact but every bit as pretty

For some CCW and home defense, I'd go P-01. While I like steel frames, the somewhat reduced weight is nice when it's strapped to your belt. Also, the rail allows you to put a light on the gun which can be nice when investigating things that go bump in the night (there are other techniques where you don't need a gun light, but I like having both hands on the weapon if I'm potentially going to be shooting and/or trying to retain control of it).

Thanks for the great info! It sounds like most of yall don't use the safety of compact and just carry it hammer down. What do you think about carrying the Compact C&L since its has no grip safety?

Has CZ fixed the issues they had ftf with CZ .40 Compact?

Down the road I plan on buying a PCR or Rami for a PCW. Depending on which safety I like.

I'm a 'flick an' click' kinda guy myself: I like to carry in Condition 1, largely because it's something I can easily do with almost all semi-autos, regardless of SA/DA or SA trigger.

Gotta be particular about Beretta vs. 1911 style safety, though ;P

P01 vs. Compact

1.7 LBS vs. 2.1 LBS. Also has a light rail, which is not as good for CCW. But, the Compact has the manual safety.

PCR, carried at half-cock. Very accurate 9mm, great for CCW.

as far as ftf goes dont worry, all, and i mean just about all cz's are picky about their ammo at first once borken in however, that goes away.
