Which Lever action

I was thinking about the same thing awhile ago and decided to split the difference when a nice 35 remington 336c popped up, looking back on it I don't think I'm missing out on anything from the other calibers either.

I've never had a complaint about any of the factory loadings either from winchester 200gr SP loads, to the Remington Core-Lokts and the really nice Hornady Leverelution rounds (which might be as hard to spell as it is pronounce).

Given the two choices, I'd probably take a 45-70. I really like heavy bullets with wide meplats for short range and brush. Levers lend themselves so well to that.

Speaking of 336s, I just cut the barrel on an old beater a couple days ago.

Now it looks like this.. started out the same length as my 375.

Today I started on the stock and lower tang.

Tomorrow the stock gets shortened. Still have a lot work to do but the end goal is a short, straight stocked thumper in 35 Rem.

Starting to take shape...
