I recently put together an AR using a PSA 22lr upper on a generic lower. However, I still don't have any magazines.

On PSA's site, they say to use Mad Dog magazines. When I go to Mad Dog I see many different types of magazines. Further, nearly all of them say that they are incompatible with this or that.

Which magazine do I need? A part name or part number would be appreciated, best would be a link to the right one.

Doing some reading on the topic, it looks like most everyone says CMMG mags work with PSA 22lr uppers. So, if the mags list that they work for CMMG, I'd go off that. Or, could get CMMG mags.

Thanks, I will try to find the Mad Dog CMMG magazines when I get off work.

I have the PSA .22LR set up (I love it BTW).
It does take the CMMG mags.
Get a bunch and spend your range time shooting, not loading.
Fun times!

do you mean Blackdog? They're a big producer of that type of product. they probably mean the standard Blackdog mags. I know the CMMG grey mags are the same type. The BDMs last a lot longer than the CMMG's, yes, I have worn a few out. I think its the Blackdog "X-form" that last. I would call PSA, but the common "ciener atchisson" are what the CMMG conversion takes, and is the most popular conversion. Its been around for decades, and is not limited to one particular model. Simply put if it takes CMMG mags, it should take the Blackdog, or BDM mags, which have nylon or steel feedlips. I have blown out a few CMMG fiberglass feedlips, over thousands of rounds each. The CMMG and Blackdogs mags are very reliable. Unfortunately 44mag.com is defunct, they used to sell them for $12, with $5 flat rate shipping, maybe someone else will become a discount distributer. Get a grip loader too. I can put 500 rounds through my CMMG conversion in a two hour session easily (how I wore out mags) without accuracy or reliability problems. You'll want extra mag.

I got four mags and the grip loader. It was surprisingly easy to load the magazines with it. The mags seem fine, I won't get out to shoot it until next weekend.

I should have my sightmark reflex sight by then. I have an EoTech on my prefered AR, along with a magnifier. I want the same basic setup on a practice AR, but I don't want to break the bank doing it. So, for the 22 I will try the cheaper substitute. I have a sightmark on my High Point/Tower 9mm bullpup and I am reasonably happy with it. But I am waiting to get it out and shoot it some.

Another voice to say “metal feed lips only”. I had some 22lr at mags stored loaded and then began to wonder why so many stray 22lr rounds were in that area...until I realized that every mag with plastic lips had broken the lips and the springs spilled the rounds.
