I have almost enough Cabela's points built up to order just about any muzzle loader that they sell. Which muzzle loader would be the best for deer hunting? I'm looking for one that is very accurate and easy to clean. A stainless barrel would be a plus. Thanks in advance.

I've handled the Lyman Great Plains, and am very keen to get one. They come in several calibers, barrel lengths, twist rates (for conical or ball projectiles), percussion and flintlock, in premade and kit form, and are available with the EXCELLENT Lyman receiver sight. They can be had with double set triggers, and I understand the accuracy can be superb. The style is authentic to period rifles as well, but they now even offer stainless models.

While I understand that the Knights are well-made, value-packed products, they represent nothing that I'm interested in.

Be advised, some states have limits on what is considered a "primitive weapon" legal for muzzle loader seasons. For example, neighboring Pa. says flint only, .40 cal or larger, patched ball only. Check your state laws before you buy. On the other end of the spectrum, here in Oh., the only requirement is that it be .38 cal or larger and load from the muzzle.

Beautiful. Clearly quality-made.

And it misses the point (to me) ENTIRELY.
