Ok my wife just bought a Kel Tec PF-9 and I have found that it is almost perfect for me to pocket carry. Now I want one but, its grip is just a little to small. I'm a 6' 215lb male with large hands. Now for those of you have gone through this before what did you settle upon? I was thinking a small framed revolver with Hogue grips but I would prefer a semi-auto because my wife hates revolvers and I want her to at least be able to use it. So any suggestions?
Pocket carry and revolvers don't really, work. I'm your size, same problem. I have a 360PD, and sometimes, depending upon what I'm wearing, it works for pocket carry. Other times even my cut down, chopped and sanded grip sticks out of my pocket. It is, however the only gun I have that weighs little enough to be comfortable for pocket carry. I would say 15 oz and under is pocket carry stuff. I suspect, with pocket grips, there is some .38 Special
lightweight that would be accurate, shootable, and pretty light.
Now, the problem is with big hands, you have to compromise fire power for
accuracy. With small grips, big hands, you need a gun that with you shooting it, makes you a good shot. My 360PD is COM accuracy at 7 yards.
The PM9 is head shot accuracy at that range.
If I put a big hogue mono-grip on the 360PD, I can shoot it as well as the PM9, but, it makes it a holster gun, not a pocket carry gun.
So, to answer your question:
My choices are
Beretta 950 in either .22 short or .22lr
Kahr PM 9
S&@ 340 or 360PD
