I've decided to buy a Sig Sauer in .357SIG, but I don't know which one I am going to get. Whether it will be the all-metal P229 or the polymer framed SP2022. Some people say that the polymer frame takes the high pressure pounding better, but I personally don't know.

I voted for the 229 for personal preferences really. I like (and carry) polymer framed pistols - but in a SIG I've come to prefer the all-metal models.

Having said that, I owned a 2340 and it was an excellent arm. Accurate and great trigger.

I voted the 229. I think of all the .357 sig pistols out there, it appears to be one of the most durable and softest-shooting. I love my 229!

P229.. Proven

...

A picture is worth a thousand words..

The P229 is a fine addition that has a well-proven track record..

I went with (and have) a P229. It's been around alot longer than the Sig Pro and has a longer proven track record. The P229 was designed to withstand punishment that the .40S&W and the .357sig rounds generate.

Hmm your poll responses seem to indicate a subtle slant in one direction...

I just had to be the guy to be different, mostly for the sake of being different because I'm like that.

In any event, I carry a P239 in that caliber and I find it to be about as large as I am prepared to go, but that's just me. If I need more than 7+1 I'm already in deep caca.

My buddy traded a guitar for a 229 today. It handles well and I love the decocker. Check out Sig's website, they have a special for first responders, veterans, and active duty military. If you are not one of the above see if you know one who will buy you a new Sig at cost.

The p2022 is nice but not as nice as the p229. The p229's frame is virtually indistuctable as all metal sig's.

I have an older SP2340 in .357SIG and it's a gem.I currently have 5 SIG's and can say with all honesty that the polymer guns are in NO way lacking compared to their metal framed siblings and that their trigger is the best SIG has made this side of the 210.The plastic guns are excellent quality and value, the SIGsnobs don't like them but it's their loss.

I had an SP2340 but, even though I have relatively large hands and the pistol came with two grip configurations, I could never warm up to the largish, blocky profile that never felt quite right in my hands. For those who like the fit I found it to be a nice pistol in all other respects.

I now have a 220 Carry which fits my hands perfectly.

You need to try one of these:

I have a P229 in 40 S&W with the extra .357Sig barrel. I think it is one of the best guns on the market. It fits me well and I can shoot it fairly well.

Your mileage may vary but I suggest that you at least try one before you decide.

I never shot the Sigpro, but when I handled it in the shop, it didn't feel as well constructed as the alloy-framed SIGs. The p229 is built like a tank, albeit a compact sized tank. I had a p226 that accidentally bounced on a concrete floor and the only scratches were on my aftermarket night sights.

That 357SIG round in the p229 or p226 is like a laser. I used to shoot unshaken (and unopened) soda cans with my p226 from 25 to 35 yards away. From the closer range, a bullet impact would cause the can to violently rupture, splashing me where I stand. The .40 S&W usually would just knock it over.
