Who bought Schrade equipment

I know the name was bought by an overseas concern.
But who bought the tools and machinery.

I saw some knives at a local dept store that looked like the old Schrade line, especially the sharpfinger.

The name was Outdoor something, any info.

Same store had a pile of '94 Old Timers I bought two 06s for $26 and there were many more small pen knives for around $10. The old American mades but in blister packs

Intellectual "property" bought by US company Taylor Cutlery

Existing parts inventory bought by group composed of United, Smokey Mtn. Knife Works and BlueRidge Knives

Equpment purchased by a variety of companies including Benchmade Knives.

Whatever these knives were they were Schrade lookalikes made in America

Maybe one of the other companies you mentioned are making them under an assumed named

Taylor Cutlery, who owns the intellectual rights to the Scrade line, is licensing out many of the old favorites, such as the Sharpfinger and, one of my favorites, the Golden Spike ~ Be careful, most of these are manufactured in China, and are of unknown quality.

That's what I thought. but I also thought that Taylor was a Chinese importer. these were stamped Made In America.

I saw the new Shrade line at the gun show yesterday.

Maybe it's just prejudice but they looked like knockoffs.
The Old Timer logo looked like stamped plastic and the handles look plasticy on the large Sharp Finger shaped knife.

The Golden Spike looked right but many just looked like cheapish knock offs.
I think it was the logo that cheapened it.

Glad I went on a shopping spree last year

I believe you are right about Taylor importing from China; such as Smith & Wesson, John Deere & etc.

Taylor & United are "separate" companies, but both were involved in purchasing what was left of Schrade, along with several other companies.

United, who manufactures the "Outdoor Life" line of knives, has a manufacturing plant in Seveirville, Tenna - These were probably manufactured there.

It has also been reported that CRKT's new line of assisted openers, The Voodoo and the Wild Weasel, were manufactured for them by United in Seveirville.

Went back to the store today and that was the location given.

I'm just gonna have to accept that Schrades are gone and will never come back in any true form

A local hardware store still has a supply of the origional Schrades in stock.
Recently I purchased four different styles.
Low and behold, when I got home, I realized that one of my knives was a Chinese knockoff.
The quality is not bad and it took an edge well so I use it for a daily carry.
To those of you who may be trying to find a Schrade or two, "Caviat Emptor".(Buyer Beware).

First off, let me say that I have nothing against Chinese knives.
Some of my favorite daily use knives are from Tomahawk.

It just seems that it's a piece of my childhood and an American icon has died

I have found a small cache of original Schrades for about $10 each, but there in blister packs.

I think I may have bought the last two OT6s in existence in Florida for $12 a piece

Too many American names on cheap imports, I think that should be outlawed!!
Where is the Truth in Advertising!!!!!
I guess they don't care about their good name either....

Anybody that is interested in a good American traditional folder can look into Queen Cutlery in Pennsylvania whom also makes the Robeson,Schatt & Morgan line as well.I like them better than Case or Shrade.
