Who claims the deer?

I always do what I feel is right even if it means giving up my deer. There will always be a chance at another one.

Who in their right mind is that concerned about a deer is my perspective.

Any hunter should be. Respect for your game. A discussion such as this, could save a lot of hassle for others as well and allow them to take the high road as many others in this thread have.

For me, if some other hunter is on a “fair chase”, and I kill a deer they wounded and have been following, it’s their deer IMO.

this includes a deer shot at the end of day and they are back first thing in the morning looking for it.

for me, it doesn’t matter if they made a “killing” shot or just wounded it. If they are legitimately trying to recover an animal they wounded, I feel that it is theirs, and I was just there to help them.

My property is surrounded by the state forest. If they were not shooting at the deer when it crossed on to my land and I finished it. I would let the first shooter have it as long as they were polite and offered me the inner loin.

In my book w firearm its the last person to shot it. unless there is only one hole and there was a previous blood trail. now w bow its the first one who hit it.
