Recently have developed a fondness for chassis rifles, I started with a 6.5 savage BA Stealth, then I picked up a Ruger RPR in .22 wmr since I had a bunch of .22 WMR ammo and the price was right. More recently a Savage B22 Precision Bolt, and an A22 Precision Semi Auto

This whole Covid thing and the supply crunches (aka higher prices, no primers, etc) have me shooting a lot more .22LR and .22WMR these days, since I have plenty in stock and I don't have to find primers to reload it.

wind and weather permitting I am gonna try to get the two newest acquisitions sighted in this weekend.

Anyone else enjoy shooting .22 Chassis rifles?

Oh and the one that started this chassis rifle thing:

I don't own a rifle in a chassis but I really want one! Been eyeballing the R.O.C.S. by Trybe defense for my Savage 12fv or RAP for a few weeks now. I think it would be a good starter.

My son has an fvsr and I believe he has been looking at the MDT.

I have a btvs mk2 laminate thumb hole. Not gonna touch that one because it shoots really well as it sits.

I have used some in the past in the mil. For me, the main attraction to them is detachable mags. The rail systems are nice too if you are working with night vision, but things like the Larue STOMP kit or the McCann tri-rail setup were viable work-arounds for using night vision on older rifles in conventional formats like the M24/M40.

A couple years ago I built a “tactical” Charger on an aluminum chassis. That made it a simple matter to attach AR braces and handguards, and I really like the way it turned out. Not sure I’d want a CF bolt rifle in a chassis - but maybe I would…

I have been considering swapping out to chassis socks for the ergonomic aspect. With my arthritis and fibromyalgia, I can no longer bend my wrist to comfortably grip a standard style rifle stock. I have a couple of thumbhole stocks that are more usable for me. The problem with the OEM Boyds thumbhole stock that came on my Savage MkII BTVLSS is that the comb is way too low for any kind of cheek weld when using a scope. I currently have a Rhineland Arms Leopard stock on that rifle but that is one heavy hunk of wood.

I have a Rem 700 SPS 308 in an AICS chassis with the thumbhole deleted. Its fun, but i need to shoot it more. Had to camo paint it since the thumbhole delete didnt match the stock.

I just made a chassis for my Marlin Papoose. Paint is still curing.

Dont get me wrong though, i love a classic blued and wood rifle.

I like classic wood and steel as well, but have been smitten with the MDT chassis. I like the ruger as well but would prefer separate length and comb height locks.
