Someone should start a thread entitled "Why are so many gun buyers ignorant?".
Or "Why are so many gun buyers dishonest?"
I can think of many instances where I watched a customer try to pass off nonfunctional firearms as working perfectly in a store trade deal, potentially sticking the shop with the mess. I have lost count of the times I have seen the aftermatch of a customer switching price tags on shelf stock - even switching ammo between boxes to get it cheap and stick the next guy. And so forth.
People are people.
Some are decent. Some are not. The majority lay somewhere in between in that gray area, kept in the gray by a fear of being caught and emboldened into being less-than-decent when there is sufficient profit and low risk.
That's life.
Expecting the gun community to be somehow a better slice of humanity is not logical, nor is it likely to be born out.
