Why doesn't the NRA care about Puerto Rico?

Got a call from the NRA the other day. As someone who recently moved from Texas to PR, I am keenly aware of the gun restrictions here on the island. Clearly the poor NRA phone rep. was not.

I went on the NRA activism section of their website and it's not even possible to input Puerto Rico as a locale.

So we have concealed carry for the blind in Iowa (weird if you ask me), but nothing for PR.

Needless to say, the NRA did not get my money that day and won't until they acknowledge that the 2A should apply to all territories and possessions of the USA.

You know there are THREE TIMES more people in Puerto Rico than in Montana? So what's the deal?

How to Buy a Gun in Puerto Rico

The laws in Puerto Rico are different than they are in the States and you are required to have a license to buy and shoot a firearm. Here is how you get one, AAA Gun Shop has made it as painless as we can:

1.) Bring to the shop:
- $280 cash
- $124 Visa/Mastercard/ATH
- Valid Identification
- Fill out provided forms

2.) Bring in three friends that will vouch for you and fill out forms and sign in front of Notary Public who is available in the store:
Tuesday - Friday 7:30pm-9:00pm
Saturday 12:30pm-4:00pm

3.) Take your paperwork to Police Headquarters at 601 Franklin D. Roosevelt Avenue (Near Plaza Las Americas).

4.) Wait 120 days to recieve your license.

The heck with England, move a few miles East to the USVI.
None of these territories can vote for Federal offices but they pay US income tax.

I think your a bit mistaken about that, the way I understand it citizens there pay the same "rate" but the money goes to their own commonwealth (PR or VI) not the US Federal Gov., this while they draw numerous benefits from the Federal system. That's the reason when the subject comes up now and again in both places they tend to vote down statehood measures. I don't claim expertise though, if you know otherwise let me know.

I think if full statehood and rights given to both, the key affect would pretty much just be 4 additional antigun Democrat Senators. Suspect the NRA does not want to kick a hornets nest in this case.

Little Google and follow up calls and letter to NRA headquarters might be able to put you in touch with the right people.

Activism Discussion is the forum for "What do we do?" or "Look at these conditions." instead of Activism.

Guam just improve RKBA, why not follow the path they took? What organizations in PR are pro-2A? Remember that NRA and other 2A national organizations can't help those that don't help themselves also.
