Wildcat cartridge making.

I think he means the caliber will be .243, not that the chambering is .243 Winchester.

Well, what he said the first time was:
"I am probably going to get a barrel made for a .243 Winchester I want to put together."

Sounds like two separate projects.

I am not sure how much of the work I would/will be able to do myself.

Paying skilled professionals to generate a wildcat these days is a rich man's hobby. Used to, gunsmiths worked cheaply, relative to the skill and equipment required. No more, even though a plumber usually does better in the long run.

I've only been here a year or so...but I can tell you that rcmodler and a bunch of the other folks who took the time to reply to your request have tons-o-experience. You pretty much laid what you know on the table and I'd say you'd best listen to them.

I think the use of the term Wildcat these days is a bit of an oxymoron. In my mind wildcat implies that you have something unique and original. While this may have been possible in the 1950's there simply aren't any uncharted waters left to explore today.

Why don't you tell us what you have in mind and we'll show you at least 4 std, proprietary and wildcat cartridges based on the same case and bullet diameter
