I see a bunch of 870 12g stocks on ebay for good deals, under $40 could I place it on a 870 20ga?? it says 12g so I dont know, I cant find one that says 20g..

No 20 ga. is smaller, same size as the 760-740 rifles.

Older 20 gauge 870s (serial numbers end in X for 2 3/4" chambers/frames and N for 3" chambers/frames) were full size receivers, same as the 12 gauge guns. Barrels for newer 20 ga. 870s won't fit them, but 12 gauge stocks will.

For current 20 gauge 870s, only 20 ga. stocks will fit- but new production 20 gauge barrels will fit, though. Serial numbers for current 20 gauge 870s built on 20 gauge frames end in K (2 3/4") or U (3").

Keep up with the 20 gauge 870 receiver codes (the last letter in the serial number) and you can tell what's what...

OBTW- Remington has a couple of 20 gauge stocks and forearms listed on closeout, if they're still in stock. I'll be calling them tomorrow to try and order a brown/green laminate set for an Express 20 ga. Youth Model ($19 for the forearm, $29 for the stock assy).

As others have said it's not a direct bolt up, if you were willing to do a lot of wood work it can be made to fit but at that point starting from a blank would be as easy. I would only consider it if the stock cost less than $5.00 in my hands.
