Since I got back into guns in early 2006 after a 20 year lapse I have felt the compulsive need to "catch up." In the last 6 months I have acquired all Gun Digests from 1956 through 2007 inclusive and have a couple earlier ones also. I was also at a book sale this weekend and acquired at a cost of less than 24 cents copy all issues of The American Rifleman from Jan 1971 through Dec 2003. I put this information out for the reason that I want to encourage people to enjoy the pleasure of learning more about their hobby, love, passtime. I also want to say that I will try to help anyone look something up in these references if it will be helpful in some way. I do not have a crossfile to put my hands on an article in a minute but if you remember that, for example, the 1978 Gun Digest had an item in that want to know about and you don't have that 1978 Gun Digest, then you can email me through THR and I will help if I can. I will also add that I just purchased and read the Don Wilkerson reference on .22 Colt Scouts and Peacemakers and New Frontiers and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I certainly would recommend that book if you are interested in those Colt .22s

greatly appreciated

It's nice to meet people that are willing to help others, and I would appreciate your help in helping me determine what my newly purchased Webley MKII is worth.serial # 50667, it is in firing condition, judging from it's "battle scars", it has seen a lot of action. I picked it up from my gun store that just bought it from an estate sale of one of their regulars who past away. The dearly departed was fastidious and had an excellent collection of antiques as well as military from different periods. I also bought a Ruger 5" bull barrel government model .22lr.

Thanks for your help. John

Reply on Webley Mark II

George29 this is all I have to refer to in this case.....I have a copy of the 2005 Standard Catalog of Firearms, 15th edition. Bear in mind if this is referred to as a 2005 copy then the information would be current as of 2004 so it is two years old already. Here is what it quotes for a Webley Mark II. IT IS THE SAME AS A MARK I BUT WITH A LARGER HAMMER SPUR AND IMPROVED BARREL CATCH. MANUFACTURED FROM 1894 TO 1897. EXCLLENT $550 VG $450 GOOD $300 FAIR $200 POOR $100. Hope this helps. Enjoy your historical firearm. I like older ones myself.

I really do appreciate your help, seems I bought it for the right price. deus beatus
