I've committed to buy a Winchester 9422 XTR .22 LR next week, it has a repaired boo-boo on the toe of the stock but I can live with it. Though my 52 yr old eyes could definitely use a scope, it seems a shame to put a scope on a nice lever action .22. The bridge mount receiver sights would work well enough, but the tang sights have really caught my attention. The Marbles would be great, but is mighty pricey; the Lyman is more reasonably priced, but has no windage adjustment; and then I spotted the Taurus tang sight, made to fit their model 62 & 72 rifles, the little Winchester pump re-makes. Tha Marbles is $125, the Taurus is $33-$35. :scrutiny:

Has anyone installed a Taurus tang sight on a Winchester 9422? If so: How involved is this? I'd probably need to get a gunsmith to drill & tap a hole or two in the tang, what else would be involved- maybe reshaping the contour of the base's bottom?

All help appreciated.
