A friend just purchased a Winchester 290 and reported it shoots really good but the trigger is very heavy and asked if there is a way to improve from the current 12 pound pull? Any ideas or help?
Take a look at the sear hook on the hammer. Just did a trigger job on a 270 pump that had a burr on the edge of the sear hook, enough to catch your fingernail on. Not damaged, just left that way at the factory. I was able to use a fine stone to remove the burr and ended up with a safe 5# pull. Not target grade but better than 17#.
