I was browsing some pawnshops the other day and came across a WInchester 37 for $90. The catch was that the stock was missing a piece. The piece missing was the latch that keeps the forearm and barrel connected to the reciever/stock. The guy behind the counter said all that is needed is these parts and a little TLC, because it was a little rusted. I just don't know the correct term for that part nor do I know where to get it. If anybody could help me out on this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the site. I just am not sure about the part. The model is a 37, I believe. It is the part which goes in the small hole on the forearm and it holds the forearm on the stock.

The 37 has what is called the "foreend shoe" which includes the whole mechanism that holds the foreend on. It is fairly large assembly. The screw that holds it in goes through a bushing in the bottom of the foreend. If only the screw is missing, it costs a couple of bucks. If the whole "shoe" is missing, it costs around $30. The 37A is different. There is no hole in the bottom of the foreend. Instead, the foreend catch plate is held to the foreend by two wood screws from the inside. The catch plate assembly runs around $32.
