I have the been offered a Winchester model 12 Shotgun 12 gauge full choke which I believe has a 28 or 30 inch barrel. That is all I know about the gun right now. The seller wants me to make him an offer but after seeing the prices online I'm completely lost 3,000 to 150. He said the wood has some minor wear marks but other wise it's in good condition.

Does anyone have any clue what this could be worth? I know with out pictures and and actual year or serial number it's impossible to give a good value. I'll try and see if I can get the serial and some pictures soon.

He got back to me about the serial number and it's a 1963

Pre-64 M12's are the most wanted. If in decent shape with a plain barrel I would say $500-700. Check to make sure the receiver and barrel serial numbers match. If it has a vent rib I would add $100-150.

This is a 1956 Model 12 12 ga. 30 inch full choke. My Dad bought it in a bar from a guy that needed the money. I think he paid $100 for in the 1960s. I've owned it for the past 40 years. It is in near mint condition. Blueing is over 99% with small nicks in the wood. I would put a price of $700 on it if I wanted to sell it which I don't/won't. Its an heirloom to be passed to my grandson.

You should take it and your grandson and go shooting!

OP, you can look on sites like GunsInternational to see what they are selling for, as well as closed auctions on the typical auction websites.

That's what I was trying to do but the prices were all over the place. He said he took it to a gun show and what they offered him was next to nothing(he didn't tell me what the offer was)

Ones I have seen in recent years, in pretty decent shape, at flea markets and such were asking ~$600; if that helps you at all. This is in Florida, so location might dictate higher or lower

The gun shown in the pictures has a Trap forearm and butt stock. Along with the ventilated rib, if it came from the factory that way, it is a Trap grade Model 12. If not factory, it is a built up "trap gun". In either case, it would be easily worth $750 - $850 if in good condition. I bought a brand new "Y" model Trap gun way back in 1973 and paid $525 for it then. Would not consider selling it for less than $800.

Wow thanks for all the great info! It is a trap model 12. I have not discussed price with him yet because I wanted to offer a fair price.

It reminds me of the Model 12 trap guns I used to see as a teenager pulling/setting trap/skeet in the late 60's. It appears to have aftermarket wood and a Simmons Broadway high VR.

After doing more reading on the trap gun model it should have the checkered for arm so I'm not sure its all original. I already have a Shotgun with barrels and chokes for everything I need.......... For some strange reason I want this one o_O:)

Field grade Model 12 12ga Full choke (usually 30") plain barrel with minor wear $350 to $400.

Looks like a pretty nice gun from what I could tell from the pictures. I'd probably go for that if you could get it for around $800ish or less.... Hard to say if I'd go higher than that without seeing it in person but I might...

That is way over my budget but he wants to sell it so I'm going to see if he wants me to put it in the for sale section. He is not to good with computers.

In the Dallas area, I've seen asking prices at gun shows from $500 to $1000 for ratty, heavily scratched up, well worn and used 12 ga Model 12s, and slightly less for 16 ga. When I saw a pristine 16 ga for $300, I snagged it. Less than a year later, I found a 12 ga in great shape for $500 at a LGS that was going out of business. I had never seen a trap model locally yet, but I can imagine they would command more.
