I have recently acquired a Winchester Model 37 shotgun. I'd like to find out more about it such as year of manufacture and hopefully find a manual for it.

It is chambered 2 3/4 and has a full choke.

I will attach a picture.

Sorry, can't date it.

MODEL 37
Not serially numbered. Introduced in 1936, discontinued in 1963. A total of 1,015,554 were made. Re-introduced in 1973, as the model 37-A, discontinued in 1981.

Looks like Somebody painted the stock black.
They didn't come that way.

Thanks rc! Either it's painted or has oil or something in it. It was found in a shed. Any idea where I can find a manual?

Brings back memories. My first "trap" gun was a "steelbilt" 37 that I added Remington pad, a laced on cheek pad, and soldered on a rib that came off a High Standard that had been in a fire. Trigger shoe finished the "build". Won a few meat shoots with it.
Called it my WinRemStandardChester.
Buddies called it Frankenstein.

Thanks RC! That's what I was looking for. I like seeing blow up views and parts lists for my guns.

My Daddy gave me a 20 gauge-full choke model 37 "steelbilt" for my 14th birthday in 1963. I will never forget going with him to the local Western Auto to pick one out. He paid $24.95 for it. I have used it for hunting small game, even quail hunting with daddy. It has also done well at turkey shoots. My wife even shot at a prowler with it. I still have it and it is still in good shape.

Red letter model

I just noticed little bits of paint where Winchester is engraved. Is that an earlier model?
