My father just got the new rifleman in the mail and I was flipping thru it and came to a page mentioning a recall on some ammo. This is what it says,

Product Warning and recall notice
Winchester 5.56mm M855 62Gr PENE

Symbol Number: ZGQ3308

Lot Number: WCC10M106-004

Says that after extensive evaluation, They believe the wrong propellant was used. This how ever comes in a 900 round shipping container, 30 round containers.

Winchester Toll Free: 866-423-5224
UPS will pick it free and Winchester will replace it.

That is all! I didn't see it posted so I figured I go ahead and let you guys know. Be careful and check your stash!

great, even more stress on the supply! This is what happens when manufacturers try to "catch up" with demand.

This may or may not be related to playing catch-up;

recalls have been routine occurrences in the past, too.

Manufacturers have done recalls whenever internal testing or customer complaints and follow ups raise any remote question about safety. If you worry about it, it is a good argument to keep your ammo in the original box so you can check lot numbers.

Added: Thanks to Josh45 for reprinting the complete details; that is a good idea for those of us with no access to the original source.

wrong powder? yikes. Good thing it wasn't too far off that it required extensive testing to determine. If they had used one of their pistol powders instead...
