Just curious if everyone wipes the exterior of their cases down to remove grit before tumbling them. I was under the understanding that this would help the life of you’re dies, but I was wondering how big of a difference it makes. I would think that you would only have to wipe them down after the tumbling, but the Lyman manual says otherwise. How about with carbide dies?

The whole point of tumbling is to clean the cases. Wiping the cases to clean them before tumbling them to clean them is a bit moot.

I recently tumble some range brass laying on gravel after rain and it clean up just find. Although the media was dirty anyway and I replaced it after that batch.
