My local gun shop sells wolf ammo, no bid deal there i guess. But she sells wolf 5.56 performance ammuntion in a white box with just black letters on it. it is brass cased. I havent seen this ammo anywhere else, and was wondering if anyone could tell me about it?

Is it really 5.56 or is it .223? i cant imagine they would outright lie on the box but i want to be sure.

If it is brass cased is it different from their gold line or whatever, or maybe the same stuff in an older box?

Is 200 rounds for 50 bucks a good price?

Im not particularly afraid to shoot steel cased stuff out of my brand new ar15, but if i can get this brass for a decent price maybe ill shoot it. plus the only steel cased stuff she has is .223, not 5.56.

I have not yet heard about the white boxed ammo. Maybe its another countries military surplus repackaged by Wolf. I believe the Wolf brassed cased ammo is made under contract by Prvi Partizan in Serbia and maybe some other companies like IMI. Its good ammo, S&B quailty, though not the best. It should all be brass cases, and reloadable since that was the reason Wolf came out with this line compared to their cheap steel case ammo from Russia. I am not sure if it 5.56 or .223.

shes got individual boxes (20) for 5.68 each. maybe ill get one to try it out first.

Mega Sports in plainfeild IL sells it i have shot it out of my AR and it works great out of 500 rounds 0-ftf 0-duds and i belive its reloadable!

I also heard that it was Prvi Partizan ammo repacked by Wolf.

I like how they come in battle packs.:)

And 200rds for $50 is not THAT bad. It equals out to be $250 per 1,000.....still a little too high for me.

nobody else uses this stuff?

It's not possible to know exactly which ammunition you're describing.

Are you certain it's the "M193" variety manufactured by Prvi Partisan as mentioned above?

It would help if you could look at a round and tell us what the headstamp says on the base.

Don't assume it's Wolf just because that's what the shelf or dealer says. I've seen a lot of mis-marked ammo in gunshops and gunshows when the boxes aren't labeled

The wolf i got is in a black box (20 rnds) and it plainly says .223 Rem on the box. along with 62 gr. FMJ, Steel Case, Non-Corrosive Boxer Primed.

not to mention it has a wolf on all sides of the box except the warning label

thats wat i got

For the non believers.

That's Prvi Partizan pictured. Headstamped nny. It's Yugoslavian (or whatever they are calling themselves now).

Pretty good ammo, albeit overpriced. However, it seems 223/5.56 ammo everywhere is overpriced these days and since you don't have to pay shipping... I'd probably buy it.

I was going to say can someone show me a cheaper round. Natchez where i used to get AE for .223 has gone from 3.47 for 20 to like 6.99 for 20 rounds. If anyone has a cheaper site i'm looking to make a bulk order but i may end up getting this.

Sellier & Bellot is $269 a case. $179 a case for the steel cased Wolf.

I use these guys for my 50BMG ammo and they have always given good service.

the 5.68 a box was for individual boxes of 20. her bulk price was 50 dollars for 200, thats 250 a case right? which is also 25 cents per round. the only place around here i can get umc is gander mtn, and they charge 80 dollars for 200. thats 40 cents a round, or 400 a case, not even close. ill have to check my local wal mart for their price on WWB, which may be the only competitor for this stuff.

this stuff looks exactly like what Evil Monkey posted, i didnt catch that it said M193 Ball on it when i had originally posted. i suppose that would have made it easier to identify.

DMK is exactly right, its got nny on the headstamp, along with 2005. Im glad its decent ammo, since i can buy it for way cheaper than anything else around here, and i dont have to spend 250 at a time on it.

Thanks for the clarification guys. I just field stripped/ reassembled my brand new AR (M&P 15A) and will be taking it to the range tomorrow. Ill put up a simple range report tomorrow.

From the pic, that looks like the same stuff that they also sell as their Gold line. You might take a magnet with you just to make sure it isn't a brass washed steel case though. We're not likely to be finding any good deals on ammo for some time, so that's not a bad price, actually.

If you happen to be in my MI, please PM me the location. You might want to think about buying a bunch of it. $250/case is a currently a very low price. The only place online that I know has this is asking $319.90/case + SH. Personally, I use steel case Wolf for training. Much cheaper.
