I know that there are endless threads about using Wolf ammunition in centerfire calibers and my intention is not to start another one. However, I haven't seen much information about using Wolf ammo in shotguns. Any opinions?

Thanks.

We had a thread about this within the last month. It so happened that when it was posted, I was right in the middle of a four day defensive shotgun class and got to see some of it fired on paper. The stuff I saw was 00 buck. It did ok. It didn't provide the tightest pattern in any gun I saw it fired in, but it wasn't bad.
If it cost significantly less than other buckshot (I have no idea what it costs), I would certainly buy it for practice ammo. On the other hand, who knows, it might pattern great in your gun ? This is the same philosophy I use with Wolf ammo in 5.56. It isn't the most accurate ammo I ever fired out of my AR15s, but it isn't bad. And, since it is almost half the cost of anything else and is even cheaper than handloading 5.56, I buy a lot of it for practice ammo. When shooting it at cardboard silhouettes and steel as fast as I can get a decent sight picture, it works great. I don't shoot it in my 24" scoped AR however. It has it's place, and it does very well for me in that place.

Wolf buck shot works very well in my 870 with a monified choke,9-10" at 35'.The slugs are the most accurate i've found yet,5 shots into 2" at 50 yards with a rifled choke. The biggest deawback is the smell,it stinks! but for $1.30 for buckshot and $1.85 for slugs at J&G in prescott az,i can live with it.

Cheap, functional, just not the best.

Something out there will pattern tighter in your gun--find it and buy some for social work, keep the Wolf around for cheap practice.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't expecting anyone to completely endorse it, but I noticed that Midway has both the 00 buck and slugs for less than $2 a box. I had planned to pick up some slugs anyway, so perhaps I should go ahead and try them.

Try it in your gun. Shoot some patterns with it. Compare those patterns against other stuff. If it patterns the best then I completely endorse it.
I think you will find that it is OK, adequate, not bad, but not the best pattern you see. That isn't all bad when it costs far less.
