Sad that there are armed, amoral robbers in the world, sad that the husband was hurt. Sad, Yes, that this particular amoral robber was killed.
Not sad that Angela Patterson was ready to defend herself and her family, and that neither she nor her husband submitted to evil willingly. They could easily have been shot (as witnesses) over something as small as a stolen television -- good thing this burglar didn't rob an unarmed family next door.

Yep. And it reminded me that in 1993, I slept through a similar incident. My then-landlord (an interesting character, even for Austin, TX) shot a burglar (wounded him) in the garage next to my thin-walled first-floor apartment. I sometimes at least *consider* myself a light sleeper, but that was a 12ga going off less than 15 feet from me, in a house which (believe me) did not hide noise very much. I had no idea until late the next day.

"Sad" wasn't the exact adjective that came to my mind. I also wouldn't call the robber and likely rapist amoral. Immoral is more like it.
I wonder if the national media considers these successful self defense occurrences "too common" to be "news." Maybe that's why you'll never see this story on CNN.

great absolutly great. glad they came out ok. and i would gladly take a GSW and live then let anything happen to my family and/or friends.
