I note that all the women mentioned are bowhunters. No nasty old guns going to get a plug in NYT.

That may be their attitude, but it's more like they don't allow gun hunting on LI except for birds. There used to be a very limited shotgun season on designated land, but pretty much no guns for deer hunting there.

Who cares if it's a bow or a gun, hunting needs a boost and any hunting article is helpful.

A friend of the feminine persuasion is a shooter and hunter. She has killed deer, but thinks pheasant hunting is the highest form of the sport.

Except for a brief shotgun season Long Island is bow only.

I can identify with those women. I was also a first generation hunter that started in adulthood. The appeal was instant and powerful. Great articles like this really help to get the message out, not only to promote hunting, but to help people live healthier and fuller lives.
