Wood Grips before and after

After viewing those beautiful avenging angle pistols, I got thinking about my stock factory varnished wood grips.

Top picture is with original factory varnish and the second photo is after the varnish was stripped, wood sanded, stained and refinished with boiled linseed oil.

The grips no longer look and feel like plastic. They look alive.
I think I'm going to do this to all my other Colts!

That pistol came with a nice bit of wood on it always liked a good bit of figure in my wood

Looks great and happen to do the same with most of ours.

That satin finish always looks a lot better. That's a good lookin revolver as it sits in the original picture only made better with the refinished grips.

Funny thing is, now that I have refinished this grip, all my other repo Colt factory finishes look muddy in comparison.
I can't wait to do the rest!
