I thought it was about time to start a thread about humble working blades. You know, the ones that actually *DO* something besides look pretty. Here are my favorites:

--Roselli UHC Puukko
--Case XX w/ brass fittings from the 70's
--Opinel razor
--Case XX pocket knife

The Army issued me this nice Benchmade Automatic (black) in 2003 when we were in Iraq. Then when I was back there again in 2005 I got my hands on another one and I have to say that I love em.

They are the handiest little knives on the market (and lifetime guaranteed too). I keep the one from this last deployment NIB and use the first one as my everyday handy blade (yeah it gets some looks as its the real deal but its a great conversation piece as a one button open). :D

my working blades are pretty and functional , or as my wife says , " pretty expensively functional. " some people are afraid to use their customs that cost over $300 , not me , I buy it , it gets used.
Functional first , then looks , but nothing wrong with having both along with quality construction.

Used a humble Opinel just today. Used a humble SOG yesterday. Used a "humble" Sebenza the day before that. Any knife that you actually use to do any real work beyond opening mail is a using knife and not a posing knife.

every blade I own. . . . .

works for a living. I don't think I've ever acquired a knife because I thought it was " pretty ". Knives I handle several times a day include a Victorinox Super Tinker, an Olfa Touchknife, A SuperKnife folding utility blade and a Case slipjoint folder ( usually a three blade serpentine stockman or a sleeveboard jack )
