Would appreciate info on a Japanese Browning takedown

Hello to all.

Here's my question:

I was at a local gun store today, and the guy had a Japanese Browning take down model in really good condition. I couldn't find anything wrong with the gun. He wanted $450 for it. It was a pawn shop, so he will take a little less than that.

Is this a good gun? Does it have a good reputation? Is it worth what he is asking for it? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The ones that have the grooved receiver cannot hold zero on a scope. Later versions had the barrel drilled and tapped. Don't know which the JAP versions were.
Beautiful guns, elegant concept.
They did like to send hot brass down your left sleeve depending on your hold.
 
I guess we can only assume you are talking about the .22 auto, as the poster answering your question did? Browning also makes take down BLRs and all their over-under shotguns take down. What gun are you asking about? We definitely need more info about the gun you are taking about (rifle, shotgun, model, caliber, etc.)
 
Whether Japanese, Chinese, or original Belgian FN, they're neat little rifles. I got the Browning scope mount that attaches to the barrel in place of the rear sight and mounted a BSA Red Dot scope on it. It's an accurate little plinker.

For the Miroku made Browning name brand, that's about average retail for a Grade 1, I think.

They are very nice little 22 auto's, and even though mine is Belgian made, i see nothing wrong with the Japan made guns,

It's a really nice gun for an LH shooter too, and quite accurate, as long as you have the take down bbl nut adjusted properly.
